Prof. Yos: Expert Research Results Must Be Able to Support Food Self-Sufficiency

Undip Rector Prof. Yos Johan Utama hopes that researchers and experts contribute in increasing food production for the realization of food self-sufficiency of the nation. The idea itself was delivered at the International Symposium on Food Agro-Biodiversity (ISFA), Tuesday (26/9).
The international symposium was held by the Faculty of Livestock and Agricultural Sciences of Diponegoro University at Grand Candi Semarang Hotel.
Rector said that results of research and innovation by all expert should give a contribution and advancement for the world of livestock and agriculture, especially in Indonesia and international generally.
“As an agrarian country Indonesia should be able to apply a innovation from the experts for human needs. Indonesia also should have an important role to participate and join in cooperation with the international community. Researchers must contribute giving idea and invention for this country, “Rector said.
Dean of Faculty of Livestock and Agricultural Sciences of Diponegoro University, Prof. Arifin said the ISFA itself was held every three years and became the second symposium after 2014. The event itself was themed ‘Developing Sustainable Agriculture and Food Production’.
The theme was selected to promote sustainable developing for food and agriculture production. The purpose of international symposium held as a forum to collect the results of research from all experts on food and agriculture field from several countries.
“We want the research of experts not only to be a new invention, but also can be continued to be developed and applied in a real way. Research from all experts is expected to solve the problem in the challenge of food sufficiency, “he added.
Prof. Arifin said that this ISFA international seminar attended by 123 participants whos collected research results too. Each participant will present the research results, later it will be published in Scopus Indexed International Proceedings if it pass the selection and qualification process.
Symposium which held two days from 26th till 27th September, 2017 presents four speakers consisting of Shigeru Hayagawa from Kagawa University Japan, Cheng Neng Chan from Guandong Institute of Eco-Environmental Science and Technology of China and Bessie M Burgos from Southeast Asian Regional Center Philippines and one national speaker, Agung P Murdanoto from PT. Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia.
