Undip Commit to Develop New Researcher’s Ideas
Diponegoro University holds an international conference titled “The 3rd International Conference on Tropical and Coastal Region eco development (ICTCRED) 2017” at the Main Hall of Eastparc Yogyakarta Hotel which was held for 3 days, 2 to 4 October 2017. This activity will be published in the International Proceedings Indexed Scopus IOP. The event was attended by approximately 150 participants both from within and outside the country including Prof. Susilo Wibowo and Dr. Hadiyanto from Diponegoro University -Indonesia, Prof. Gerard Pals Hadiyanto from VU University Medical Center-Netherlands, Prof. Junichi Tanaka from the University of Ryukyus-Japan. Roel H. Bosma from Wageningen University-Netherlands, Prof. Tao Liu from Ocean University of China, and Prof. Scottawat Benjakul from Prince of Songkla University.
Chairman of the Institute of Research and Community Service Undip Prof. rer.nat. Heru Susanto, ST., MM., MT said as a form of Undip transformation into PTNBH, Undip hold international conference regularly.
“The first conference was held in early 2014 with the first mission to load and publish the results of Undip research to be more useful,” said Prof. Heru.
In his speech, Diponegoro University Rector, Prof. Yos Johan Utama was pleased and proud of the event as an actualization of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi.
“The idea of the conference theme is inspired from the idea of our Center of Excelent (CoE) which was established in 2012 which is in line with Diponegoro University’s vission is to be research university. Since the decalaration Diponegoro University as a research university, the main theme of every research result is will be enhanced to the level of international benchmarking, ” Rector said.
Prof. Yos added that Diponegoro University consists of 13 faculties with strong human resources and research background related to the tropical science and coastal development. It is also supported by an integrated laboratory of fisheries and marine located at Teluk Awur Jepara.
Coastal development and tropical sciences are two important issues in Indonesia and need to be actualized by the government. It is also closey related to Diponegoro University’s scientific objectives. The enermous potencies of Indonesia, large resources of marine area and their potential value of natural marine products extract, provide an opportunity to contribute for healthy energy and food. Recent issue has been arisen that the food and energy also can be exploited from the sea. Indeed, the exploration and exploitation of marine products must be considered on the impact of abstracts research finding and ideas. Diponegoro University Rector felt gratefull to seen that conference has positive responds from the participants either from other countries such Japan, China, US, and France, as reported by the organizing committee.
Number of publication indexed by reputable database has been set as an indicator for world university rank including Indonesia. Therefore, Diponegoro University alsa encourages all scientists and academic staffs to increase their publication articles in these international reputation journals. Currently, Diponegoro University is in the 6th position among universities in Indonesia for the number of publications in reputable International Journalls.
