Kerapu Caring Action with UNDIP and Central Java Provincial Government to Distribute Aid Package to Students Affected by Pandemic

SEMARANG – Back in action in helping students affected Covid-19, the Undip Fisheries Alumni Family (Kerapu) in this action collaborating with Diponegoro University and Central Java Provincial Government. Covid-19 affected students in question are students who are unable to return to their hometowns due to the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) so that they have to remain in the city of Semarang for an undetermined time. This aid distribution action was not the first to be carried out by Kerapu Undip from the Diponegoro University’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. As a follow-up activity of the aid distribution program that was carried out last May, the activity titled “Kerapu Peduli, Kerapu Guyub Saklawase” distributed aid packages to 155 students. Aid recipients are students from various Undip FPIK Study Programs including the Department of Capture Fisheries (PT), the Department of Aquaculture (AK), the Department of Water Resources (SDA), the Department of Fisheries Technology (THP), the Department of Oceanography (OSE), the Department of Marine Sciences (IK).

In this activities carried out on Thursday (6/18) at the Tembalang Undip Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Kerapu Undip and Central Java Provincial Government distributed food aid packages in the form of 150 packets of rice @ 5 kg, eggs 150 packs @ 10 eggs, instant noodles 150 packs @ 5 packs, cooking oil 150 packs @ 1 liter, and smoked fish 150 packs @ 5 pieces. “We would like to thank all those who have supported and collaborated so far with KERAPU, especially to the Governor of Central Java, Rector of Diponegoro University, Head of the Central Java Provincial Manpower Office, Head of the Central Java Provincial Fisheries Office, Dean of FPIK UNDIP and all parties that we cannot mention one by one, “said Abdul Kadir Karding as Chairman of the DPP Kerapu. The manifestation of the care from Undip FPIK alumni to its junior provides many benefits to students affected by a pandemic. One student said that one of the difficulties faced during the pandemic was that many food stalls were closed so students who were still in boarding houses had to cook their own food.

Meanwhile, the fourth semester student of Capture Fisheries, Iwan Fadli, said that he was still staying at the boarding house ever since the fasting month and Eid al-Fitr. Iwan revealed that aside from the fact that they are currently facing the Final Semester Examination (UAS), the government’s policy that prohibited them from going home was also a consideration for not going back home to Padang. Facing the impact of the pandemic that is happening, the FPIK Undip has been providing assistance to students affected by Covid-19 since March 2020. The Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, MSc, PhD. stated that FPIK welcomed the Kerapu’s initiative to provide care for students affected by Covid-19. “Such activities can be increased in the future. FPIK is ready to facilitate and support activities that have a positive impact on students and alma mater “, he said.
