SEMARANG – At least 24 foreign students study in the Master of Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Diponegoro University (UNDIP). They are accepted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.

It has been recorded that it has been more than 10 years since the Master of Management UNDIP has accepted foreign students. From year to year, the interest of foreign students to study at Master of Management UNDIP continues to increase.

“For the new academic year of 2020/2021 in this odd semester, there are 24 foreign students admitted to Master of Management UNDIP. The number is increasing from the previous year. The students come from various countries such as China, Thailand, African countries, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Timor Leste, Madagascar, and a number of other countries”, said Secretary of Academic Study Program of Master of Management FEB UNDIP , Mirwan Surya Perdhana, Ph.D., on Thursday (15/10/2020).

The increasing number of foreign students studying in postgraduate programs, which the Master of Management is in it, is evidence that UNDIP is one of the higher education institutions that have been recognized at the global level. This is shown by the results of ranking carried out by trusted institutions, where UNDIP is included in the ranks of world universities.

In principle, said Mirwan, the treatment of foreign and national students is similar. To be sure, program managers try to create a multicultural atmosphere because of the diverse backgrounds of students. The pattern is expected to help creating reliable graduates who can compete in the international scale since they have a strong multicultural understanding.

In the era of globalization, he said, the demand to be able to work together with colleagues and business partners from different cultures and countries is very high. With a multicultural learning atmosphere, students will naturally appreciate differences that can minimize potential conflicts and misunderstandings when interacting with people who come from different cultures or countries.

In Master of Management FEB UNDIP, students are guided by permanent teaching staff consisting of professors, doctors, and practitioner lecturers from the business world. It is confirmed that all of the concentration coordinators on duty have a doctorate degree, thus their resources and competence to prepare study participants to become reliable managers need not be doubted.

The vision, mission, and objectives of Master of Management UNDIP include educating students to have conceptual, analytical, synthetic, managerial and practical skills in developing and making business policies. The aim is making them to be able to face challenges of change on a national, regional, and international scale. “We prepare them to be reliable managers who are able to take part in this global era”, he explained.

It is undeniable that the presence of foreign students also increases the assessment for faculty and university accreditation. Therefore, the selection process is also strict. The requirements are not only academic tests and language proficiency, but the assessment of bachelor’s degrees is also examined.
