UNDIP Team Excellency at Indonesian Vocational Olympiad 2020

SEMARANG – The students team of Vocational School Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang managed to achieve brilliant achievements at Indonesian Vocational Olympiad 2020 (Olimpiade Vokasi Indonesia/OLIVIA) which was held at Faculty of Vocational Technology, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Surabaya.

Of the four categories contested in Indonesian Vocational Olympiad 2020 (OLIVIA 2020), UNDIP students team won four awards, which are 2nd and 3rd place of Science and Technology Category, 3rd place of Social Category and a certificate of appreciation for Educational Video competition. The OLIVIA 2020 itself holds four categories of competition, namely Scientific Writing Competition (Lomba Karya Tulis Ilmiah/LKTI) of Science, Social Science, Educational Videos, Website Design.

Dean of Undip Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ir Budiyono MS, expresses his appreciation for everything that students of Vocational School Undip had achieved at OLIVIA 2020 event. He revealed that the principle of the institution always encourages students to strive for excellency. Students are encouraged to be the first. “In accordance with our slogan, Time for Vocational Champion”, said Budiono.

To be sure, appreciation is given not merely because they won awards. “Appreciation is given since while being creative students also build synergies with students from other campuses. This means that the students not only produce excellent creation, but also there are other points that must be appreciated, which are leadership and collaboration”, said Prof. Budiyono, on Saturday (21/11/2020).

It is necessary to know that competition concept in OLIVIA 2020 is a creative event that also increases the ability of students to build networks and to collaborate with students from other universities. This concept is predicted to encourage the invention of more efficient creations.

In Science and Technology Category, Undip students won 2nd place through their work entitled “IOT-Based Applications to Prevent and Control Crowds in the New Normal Era”. In this work, Undip students collaborate with Gadjah Mada University students. As for the work entitled “Fable (Face Shield Biodegradable) Application of Virtual Reality Technology Upgrading Development New Era” which won 3rd place in Science and Technology, Undip students collaborate with Semarang State Polytechnic students.

The work of Undip students which won 3rd place in Social Category brings the theme “Post-Disaster Human Logistics Distribution Solutions in the New Normal Era in Jakarta”. Undip collaborates with the Health Polytechnic by Ministry of Health. The certificate award for “Covid-19 Prevention Educational Video for Persons with Disabilities” is a collaboration between Undip and Bogor Agricultural Institute.
