SEMARANG – Animal Science Master Program, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University provides its students with opportunities to earn double degrees from some leading universities in the field of animal science expertise. All Master in Animal Science students are eligible to join a twinning program as long as they are able to meet the requirements set by the program organizer.
“For a double degree, all Undip Animal Science Masters Program students have the opportunity to get it. We have collaborated with 7 leading universities in several countries with advanced animal science,” said Dean of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo Hadi Eko Prasetiyono, MS, M.Agr., IPU; on Tuesday (13/4/2021).
According to the man who is popularly called Prof. Bambang WHEP, the 7 universities that have signed the MoA and Technical of Agreement are 3 universities in Japan, 2 universities in Taiwan, one university in China and one in Germany. The universities in Japan are University of The Ryukyus, Okinawa (Ryukyu Daigaku) and Kagoshima University (Kagoshima Daigaku); Kagawa University (Kagawa Daigaku)). These three universities are among the top universities in the land of the rising sun, and are in honorable positions in various international rankings.
Tunghai University and Asia University are partners of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip in double degree program in Taiwan. Tunghai University which is located in Xitun District, Taichung, is among the top three universities in the country. Meanwhile, Asian University which is located in Wufeng District, Taichung, even though it is relatively new but always gets a position in the rankings both on an international, regional and national scale. Other partners are University of Göttingen (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen) in Germany; and Huang Zhoung Agriculture in China.
Regarding the requirements for joining the double degree program, apart from having to take an academic potential test and an interview, participants also have to take an English test. “The double degree includes as international program, so the standard of English is also quite high,” he said.
What needs to be understood is that a twinning or double degree program is part of strategic steps of a university to achieve World Class University (WCU). This program was stated by Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture as a strategy to improve the quality of tertiary education in Indonesia.
The legal basis for the double degree program includes Article 50 of Law No. 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education, Government Regulation No. 17 of 2010 concerning Management and Implementation of Education, Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 31 of 2014 concerning Cooperation in the Implementation and Management of Education by Foreign Educational Institutions with Educational Institutions in Indonesia. Double degree master program is carried out for 4 semesters, where students are required to attend semesters I and II at domestic universities. Then students continue to take lectures, research activities and completion of final assignments in semesters III and IV at partnered universities abroad for a maximum of 12 months .
Animal Science Masters Program of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip has 4 concentrations, namely Animal Production, Nutrition and Feed Science, Animal Product Technology, and Animal Husbandry Development Planning. The focus of this Master Program is the development of tropical livestock through the development of livestock human resources and sustainable use of local livestock resources.
The latest accreditation for Undip Animal Science Masters Program in 2020 is Accredited A based on the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education Decree No: 1943/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/M/III/2020.
