UNDIP Opens Animal Science Doctoral Study Program by Research

SEMARANG – Organizers of Animal Science Doctoral Study Program of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Diponegoro University (UNDIP), open opportunities of doctoral studies by Research which is starting from Academic Year of 2021/2022 . The opening of this path is to answer the need for the importance of innovation and new discoveries from the results of quality research, completed by publications in reputable scientific journals.

The Dean of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo Hadi Eko Prasetiyono, MS, M.Agr., IPU. ensured in academic year of 2021/2022, Animal Science Doctoral Study Program will accept students who want to study with a focus on conducting research and making scientific publications. “We open a program by Research, and program by Coursework is still exist,” said the man who is familiarly called Prof. Bambang WHEP, on Wednesday (14/4/2021).

Program by Research is a study that does not have class schedules, does not collect assignments and exam results; but there is still schedules for guidance and consultation meetings. This means that there are periodic obligations that students must fulfill in the process of researching and writing manuscripts prepared for reputable international scientific journals. “Program by Research does not mean that there is no schedule that must be fulfilled, the target is quite difficult,” he said.

As the name implies, all doctoral program students have to continue to do research, by going to classes, doing research, attending seminars, writing papers and also reputable scientific journals as a requirement for graduation. Dissertation writing also remains an obligation. However the responsibility of students with program by Research in doing research and journal writing is plenty.

Given the special nature of animal science, for prospective students whose graduate or master degree is not from Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science, there is an obligation to follow a matriculation with a weight of 12 credits (Semester Credit Units). This policy is to avoid the bias of the resulting graduates’ competencies.

To be sure, Animal Science Doctoral Study Program by Research of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science Undip has been thoroughly prepared. The program is also adjusted to the latest regulations, in particular the Rector’s Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning Postgraduate Academic Regulation which requires students to take a preparatory orientation which includes material on the preparation of research proposals, writing scientific articles and presentation techniques. If necessary, doctoral students by Research can be asked by their supervisors to take sit-ins in research supporting lectures organized by their own study program or other study programs at Diponegoro University.

In addition to having a valid running permit, Animal Science Doctoral Study Program by Research of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science Undip has Accreditation A based on the decision of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi) Number 699/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/III/2018 dated March 6th 2018. In the context of competence, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science Undip graduates who have a Doctorate degree have Indonesian National Qualification Framework (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia) equivalents at Level 9; which is interpreted as the highest competence in a scientific field and expertise.

One of the objectives of Animal Science Doctoral Study Program by Research is to increase Undip’s international publications to be included in the ranks of world-class research universities, through the development and application of science and technology in the field of animal sciences. Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science Undip also has several international journals indexed by Scopus, some of which are even included in Quartile (Q)3 such as the Journal of the Indonesian Tropical Animal Agriculture (JITAA) or Journal of Tropical Animal Sciences Development. The focus of this doctoral study program is in line with the focus of the faculty namely development of tropical animal sciences. (PR team)
