SEMARANG – Three Master Study Programs managed by Faculty of Public Health Diponegoro University (UNDIP) received Excellent and Very Good status from Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) or Perkumpulan Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Pendidikan Tinggi Kesehatan Indonesia (LAM-PTKes). Public Health Masters Study Program received Excellent accreditation, while Environmental Health Master Program and Health Promotion Master Program each received accreditation “A”status which means Very Good (latest version before 2020).
“The excellent accreditation obtained by Undip Public Health Master Study Program in 2020 is based on an assessment using 9 criteria. This is the first in Indonesia and of course in Diponegoro University,” said Dean of Faculty of Public Health Undip, Dr. Budiyono, SKM, M.Kes, on Tuesday (20/4/2021).
The accreditation system implemented by IAAHEH, which began in March 2015, has a strong legal basis. The formation of IAAHEH itself was facilitated by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture through Health Professional Education Quality Project (HPEQ Project) from 2009 to 2014. The legal basis is Law No. 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, especially Article 55 paragraph 5 which states that accreditation of study programs as a form of public accountability is carried out by an independent accreditation agency.
IAAHEH is currently able to become an independent accreditation institution which is financially funded by study programs without government subsidies. Even so, to maintain its quality and independence, IAAHEH is monitored and evaluated annually by National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi / BAN-PT) which develops a national accreditation system. There are 7 Health Professional Organizations and Associations of Health Institutions (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, Pharmacy, and Public Health) that co-pioneered the establishment of Indonesian Higher Education Health Education Independent Accreditation Institute, hereinafter referred to as the Founder of IAAHEH.
Currently, 3 Masters Study Programs at Faculty of Public Health Undip have 11 concentrations. In Public Health Master Program there are 4 study programs, namely Hospital Administration Study Program; Health Administration and Policy Study Program; Maternal and Child Health Study Program; Health Information System Study Program; and Public Health Nutrition Study Program. In Environmental Health Master Program there are two programs by course and by research, namely Environmental Health Study Program and Industrial Environmental Health Study Program. Whereas in Health Promotion Master Program there are 4 study programs, namely Health Promotion Study Program, Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Study Program, Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Study Program, and Human Resources Health Study Program.
In Undip, there is actually a master study program which from scientific side is included in Public Health field, but currently it is managed in another unit. The unit is Community Nutrition Master Program that now turns into Nutrition Science Master Program, which is now under the management of Faculty of Medicine Undip under Department of Nutrition; and Master of Epidemiology which is currently still under Undip Postgraduate Program.
As regulated in the provisions, Public Health Master Program, Environmental Health Master Program, and Health Promotion Master Program of Faculty of Public Health Undip which were established with an Implementation Permit: 85/DIKTI/Kep/2001;81/DIKTI/Kep/2001;83/DIKTI/Kep/2001, and is entitled to give the title M.Kes. (Master of Public Health) to its graduates, has Equivalence or Equivalent Level to Indonesian National Qualification Framework (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia / KKNI) at Level 8 KKNI from 9 existing levels.
The Public Health Master Program at Faculty of Public Health Undip is committed to produce graduates who have competencies as health service managers, educators, consultants in the field of administration and policy, researchers in the field of administration and health policy; as well as a leader in the field of health administration and policy. For Environmental Health Master Program produces managers in the field of environmental health, educators in the field of environmental health, researchers in the field of environmental health, and environmental health consultants. Meanwhile, Health Promotion Master Program is to produce managers in the field of health promotion, educators, health promotion consultants, researchers in the field of health promotion.
The learning methods used in these programs include lectures, discussions, assignments (case studies), presentations, field visits, residencies and practicums.
Public Health Master Program, Health Promotion Master Program, and Environmental Health Master Program Undip accept students from undergraduate and Diploma-4 health graduates who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and come from accredited higher education. The admission path is through Independent Examination (Ujian Mandiri / UM) which is carried out in an integrated manner in registration system managed by Undip Educational Development and Quality Assurance Institute (Lembaga Pengembangan dan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan / LP2MP).
