SEMARANG – A total of 56,247 prospective students from 34 provinces in Indonesia, as well as from abroad must compete to enter the Undergraduate Study Programs at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) through Independent Exam in 2021. They conduct the exam by online from their respective domiciles considering the conditions of the Covid-19 outbreak that do not allow centralized examinations to be carried out.

Data collected from the Undip Committee of Independent Exam stated that participants from Central Java Province dominated with 15,071 participants, followed by West Java Province with 12,318 participants, DKI Jakarta Province with 6,595 participants, East Java Province with 5,049 participants, Banten Province with 3,856 participants, North Sumatra Province with 2,575 participants, then Riau Province with 1,004 participants. The top five based on the origin of the number of participants are Central Java, West Java, DKI Jakarta, East Java and Banten,” said Dr. Ir. Setia Budi Sasongko, DEA as Head of Education Quality Assurance and Development Institute (Lembaga Pengembangan dan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan / LP2MP) Undip.

It was stated that from 56,247 prospective student applicants, 24,003 participants were declared unsuccessful due to not continuing with online registration payments. The remaining 32,063 people made registration payments so that they were declared to have passed the online exam from June 21st – July 2nd 2021. “Acceptance of new Undip students for Academic Year of 2021/2022 through Independent Exam path received a fairly large allocation which is 50% of the total accepted students enrolled in Academic Year of 2021/2022 or equivalent to 5,089 students,” he said in an interview, on Tuesday (29/6/2021).

As for the implementation of the exam, said Budi Sasongko, there are technical differences in the implementation of Undip Independent Exam in 2020 with the exam in 2021. The Independent Exam in 2020 used the selection of report cards and portfolios, while in 2021 the requirement is added with a computer-based written test that work from their domiciles.

The online exam will be held for 10 days, from June 21st – July 2nd 2021, where each session will be held three times. The online exam materials consist of the scholastic potential test and the academic potential test. This exam is carried out through a portal owned by Undip with strict supervision via Zoom application.

“Although it is done from their respective domiciles, they are still controlled by the exam supervisor. Participants are required to use the Zoom application and turn on the camera while taking the exam. This effort is made to optimize honesty in the selection of prospective student participants,” he asserted.

The portfolio of scores required is the value of student achievement while studying in school (High School, Vocational High School and equivalent), from semester 1 to 6, completed with general knowledge about national insight. The results of the final test will be processed by the Undip Committee of Independent Exam and will be announced on July 7th 2021.

“Previously, Undip had accepted prospective students with a quota of 20% for National Entrance Selection for State Universities (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri / SNMPTN) and 30% for Joint Entrance Selection of State Universities (Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri / SBMPTN),” he said.

As for the number of study programs enrolled by prospective students at Undip, currently there are 51 Undergraduate Study Programs, which are divided into 34 Study Programs of Science and Technology fields and 17 Study Programs of Social and Humanities fields. (PR team)
