Semarang, Central Java (4/09/21) – Diponegoro University (Undip) in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan / OJK) organizes a new master study program concentrating on risk management.

“It is pride for Undip because the concentration of Risk Management for Master of Management program is the only one in Indonesia,” said Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding and Inauguration of Concentration of Cooperation Risk Management in Undip and Financial Services Authority, on Friday ( 03/09).

On the same occasion, Undip Rector, who is often called Prof. Yos, expressed his appreciation and support from Financial Services Authority for the implementation of the cooperation in organizing concentration of risk management at Faculty of Economics and Business Undip.

“This is part of Undip’s efforts to answer global challenges in the financial services industry sector that requires qualified human resources in their fields,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Financial Services Authority, Prof. Wimboh Santoso, M.Sc, Ph.D., who is also a member of Undip Board of Trustees appreciated Undip for responding so quickly to the current conditions through synergies with authorities and industries.

“With the synergy between universities, industries and authorities, it is hoped that innovation will be fostered so that the economy does not depend on mobility and basis of sustainable economic growth,” said Prof. Wimbo.

Meanwhile, the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip, Prof. Suharnomo, SE., M.Sc., explained that the Risk Management concentration program aims to accelerate capacity building in the financial services industry, where the learning process is applicable and adapts to the needs of the current world of work.

All compulsory courses offered in this concentration have been adjusted to always focus on the field of risk management, especially in the financial services industry. Concentration courses are specifically designed to deepen students’ knowledge in order to master competencies in the area of corporate risk management.

The lecturers in this concentration consist of academics and practitioners who are professional and certified, from Undip, Financial Services Authority, Institute as well as experts in the financial services industry. Periodically, visiting lecturers with practitioner backgrounds will be specially invited to complete students’ understanding of the intricacies of risk.

Students are required to take a total of 42 credits to complete the Master of Management degree in this Risk Management concentration. For graduation requirements, students make a thesis with a major theme of Risk Management, which can be pursued by adopting quantitative, qualitative or mixed of research methods.

Head of Undip Secretariat and Protocol, Dr. Agus Suherman, S.Pi, M.Si, added that there were several areas of cooperation between Undip and Financial Services Authority. One of the points is in the field of scientific development in the financial services sector, which is realized by opening of Risk Management Concentration program at Faculty of Economics and Business Undip.

“This cooperation is agreed for five years, and can be extended according to the needs and dynamics of the strategic environment,” he concluded. (Utami / PR team).
