“During this pandemic, Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units conduct online class activities as a means to maintain relationships between its members. The activities aim to share knowledge about the basics of softball as well as to get to know each other so that the members will recognize their seniors and fellow members when face-to-face meetings are held. In addition, we also hold training activities that are coordinated by senior members in areas outside Semarang with prepared equipment sent from inventory of Student Activity Units. In practice, we still implement health protocols recommended by the government and the campus. These are done so that members of Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units can continue to practice during the pandemic without having to come to Semarang. We also provide physical exercise programs that can be done at home to maintain the physical condition of members in the midst of pandemic,” said Akbar Adi Wijaya, Chair of Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units.

“Ever since I was a child, I loved watching baseball games and baseball-related TV shows. When I entered Diponegoro University and I found out that there was Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units, I immediately joined it from the first week of being college student. After joining, I was welcomed by friendly seniors and helped to develop skills in softball and in organization.That’s why I feel at home for joining this activity unit,” continued the undergraduate student of Marine Engineering 2016.

The achievements in tournaments of Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units Undip include being 3rd place in National Telkom University Softball Cup 2016; 2nd place at National Gadjah Mada University Softball Cup 2018; 1st & 3rd place in Semarang City Men’s Softball Championship 2018; 1st place in Semarang City Women’s Softball Championship 2018; 3rd winner of Women’s Softball Student League 2018, 1st & 2nd winner of Semarang City Men’s Softball Championship 2019; and 1st & 2nd Place of Semarang City Men’s Softball Championship 2020.

“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that is hitting the world today, excellent physical condition is needed to stay healthy and carry out daily activities, especially online classes. One of the means of maintaining physical fitness and health is by exercising regularly. Softball– Baseball Student Activity Units Undip realizes that in this pandemic period where all academic activities are carried out online, besides learning and developing themselves in the fields they are engaged in, students must also maintain a healthy body. They have to do regular exercise and also consume foods with balanced nutrition. Everything starts with yourself, always remember the Latin proverb ‘Mens sana in corpore sano’ which means in a healthy body, there is a strong soul.
