Semarang (7/10) – The students of Diponegoro University (Undip) recorded their achievements at National Sports Week XX Papua 2021. The Undip students achieved 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals as the representatives of their regional contingents.

For this achievement, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., said that he was proud of the achievements of Undip students in this national sports event. “Congratulations on winning the medals at National Sports Week XX Papua 2021,” said the Undip Rector who is often called Prof. Yos.

He added that Undip students were required to achieve not only academically, but also achievements in various other fields. “Undip continues to encourage its students to excel in various fields so they can provide positive values for the community and nation of Indonesia,” added Prof. Yos.

The 8 medals obtained by Undip students include 3 gold medals from the roller skating sport won by Alifia Meidia Namasta, a student of Nutrition Science Study Program, Faculty of Medicine Undip. Alifia showed her ability at the roller skate track in Klemen Tinal Roller Sport Arena, Buper Waena, Jayapura City. Within 4 days of roller skating competition in National Sports Week XX Papua 2021, this DKI Jakarta female roller skating athlete had won 3 Gold medals.

She won the gold medal in the Women’s 15,000 meter Elimination with a time of 30.18,065 seconds, beating her competitors from Yogyakarta and West Java. While in the Women’s 10,000 meter Point to Point (PTP), she earned a total of 26 points and recorded the fastest time of 17,51,969 seconds. For the Women’s 3,000 meter Relay, Alifia et al managed to record a time of 4.40.022 seconds.

Furthermore, 1 silver medal was presented by Rezza Octavia, a student of Marine Science Study Program of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Undip who represented contingent of Papua. Rezza competed in the Women’s Individual Recurve in the Archery sport. The match took place at the Archery Venue, Kampung Harapan sports complex, East Sentani, Jayapura Regency on Monday (04/10). In the match that relies on accuracy, Rezza met her compatriot at the Archery Training Center, Diananda, who represented the East Java contingent.

Meeting with a senior archer did not make Rezza discouraged. This is proved by the course of a very tight match with the final result 5-6. Rezza is predicted to be the future archer of Indonesia. This Marine Science student is the first Papuan young athlete to successfully enter the archery training which was projected to the Tokyo Olympics a while ago.

A student of Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Syahara Khoerunisa, also presented 1 silver medal in the same sport as Rezza, Archery. Competing in the Women’s Individual Compound, Syahara, who represented the Banten contingent, met the archery team of the West Java contingent.

Syahara managed to become the 2nd winner after in the final match against Ratih Zil’izati who represented the West Java contingent. The student of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip lost narrowly with a final score of 134-135. With this result, Syahara won 1 silver medal at National Sports Week XX Papua 2021.

A student of Occupational Safety and Health Study Program, Faculty of Public Health Undip won 1 bronze medal. She is Abigail Guinevere Puteri Nimas Ayu who competed in the roller skating sport. Representing the Central Java contingent, Abigail Guinevere competed in the Women’s Marathon of 42,000 meter. The match, which was held in Holtekamp Street, Friday (01/10/21) lasted 3 rounds and was quite a drain on the energy of the competing athletes.

Until the last round, this Central Java athlete managed to record a time of 1 hour 19 minutes 13.03 seconds. It succeeded in making Abigail in 3rd position and was entitled to a Bronze medal at National Sports Week XX Papua 2021. The first and second positions were won by the Jakarta contingent athletes with a time of 1 hour 19 minutes 13.01 seconds and 1 hour 19 minutes 13.02 seconds.

From the Tae Kwon Do sport, Muhammad Hafizh Fachrur R, student of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip won 1 bronze medal in the category of Poomsae for Individual Senior Men. A student of Faculty of Psychology Undip, Defina Syahrini,  won 1 bronze medal in the Women’s 62 Kg Kyorugi category.
