Semarang – Vocational School of Diponegoro University became the host the 2nd International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Applied Sciences (ICChEAS 2021) on Wednesday and Thursday, November 3rd-4th 2021. Taking place at Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Building, this activity was carried out after its first series of activities was carried out at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia in 2017. ICChEAS is one of the most advanced and comprehensive global forums for disseminating results and data in research, development, applications in chemical engineering and science applications. The 2nd ICChEAS 2021 with the theme “Designing Tomorrow: Towards Sustainable Engineering and Technology” was attended by participants from 4 major countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Finland. This prestigious forum presents an extraordinary keynote speakers, namely Prof. Hidefumi Yoshii (Setsunan University, Japan); Prof. Abrar Muslim (Syiah Kuala University, Indonesia); Assoc. Prof. Jaka Sunarso (Swinburne University of Technology, Australia); and Assoc. Prof. Tony Hadibarata (Curtin University, Australia). Through this forum, researchers from various countries discussed with each other, shared their findings, collaborated and stayed in touch to produce innovation that would be useful for the advancement of research and technology in this global era.
In addition to presenting extraordinary keynote speakers, the ICChEAS 2021 activity also presented invited speakers who were experts in their fields. The invited speakers who are no less extraordinary include Nanang Masruchin, Ph.D. from Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI); Dr. Eng Asep Bayu Dani Nandiyanto from Indonesian University of Education, Indonesia; Dr. Atikah Kadri from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia; Dr. Teuku Rihayat from Lhokseumawe State Polytechnics, Indonesia; and Dr. Novi Hery Yono from PPSDM MIGAS Cepu, Indonesia. In the sharing session, many participants asked questions to the respective speakers. This pandemic situation did not dampen the enthusiasm of researchers to prepare for the future with sustainable technology engineering.
ICChEAS 2021 activities are also a forum for dynamic exchanges and collaborations between the academic community and the research community regarding sustainable technology engineering. By presenting outstanding paper writers, ICChEAS 2021 opened a parallel session to establish friendship and create discussion forums related to the research that has been carried out.
