The Rector of Diponegoro University (Undip), Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., has inaugurated the Food Processing Laboratory at the Dean’s F Building, 2nd Floor Hall, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip. The inauguration event was held on Monday (29/11) on 09.00 AM.

This event was attended by Undip Rector,Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum.; Undip Vice Rectors; Chair of Undip Academic Senate, Prof. Ir. Edy Rianto, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU.; President Director of PT Undip Maju, Dr. Wisnu Mawardi S.E., M.M.; Undip Director of Innovation and Cooperation, drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D.; Dean of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo H.E.P., M.S., M.Agr., IPU.; Deputy Deans of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip; Chair of Undip Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP); and Head of Undip Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip.

In addition, the committee of this event also invited the Head of Laboratory of Rice Quality and Cereal Postharvest, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Mulyana Hadipernata, S.TP, M.Sc.; Regional CEO of PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Semarang, Wahyu Sulistiyono; President Commissioner of Cimory Group, Bambang Sutantio; Director of PT BISI International Tbk, Agus Saputra Wijaya; Regent of Blora Regency, represented by the Head of Livestock and Fisheries Service of Blora Regency, drh. R. Gundala Wejasena, MP.

This Food Processing Laboratory is a grant from the CSR program of PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Through the BRI Peduli program, this laboratory will later be used by students to support learning activities such as research and practicum.

Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., in his speech revealed the grant assistance from PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk will be utilized properly by Undip so that it will be great learning place for students and the community in general.

“The grant from BRI through the CSR program should be maintained and used as best as we can. People should not only hype the inauguration event without making any progress. BRI’s social responsibility has passed to us, so we must maintain, care for, and make the best use of it. Thank you to BRI for the assistance,” said Prof. Yos.

From the inauguration of the Food Processing Laboratory, Prof. Yos reminded that the food products that will be produced must comply with existing regulations and maintain product quality. “The process must follow the existing regulations, especially when it comes to food, there are many legal aspects, from patent brands to product quality. Later, when it is at the mass production level and has started to be sold, we have to be careful in conducting the production process,” he explained.

In his report, the Dean of Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo H.E.P., M.S., M.Agr., IPU., explained that the development of the Food Processing Laboratory is considered very important, because general food commodities have become a vital commodity, both in Indonesia and throughout the world.

In addition, support from all elements is needed to develop research related to food. “We really appreciate all stakeholders, both from the industrial world as well as the government through the relevant ministries and agencies, the community, and the banking world, especially BRI, who has provided support in efforts to develop education and research related to food issues,” said Prof. Bambang WHEP.

Furthermore, Prof. Bambang WHEP hoped that food products from students can be produced massively by the industry players. “We hope the industries namely Cimory, PT Undip Maju, and BRI can become producers of food products created by Undip students,” he said.
