UNDIP Sent Surveillance Team for Semeru Eruption

The eruption of Mount Semeru in Malang-Lumajang Regency, East Java Province, is a national mourning towards the end of 2021. Local residents have become victims of this unexpected natural disaster. As an educational institution that is active in social participation, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) through the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART) sent a Surveillance Team to the scene.

The team, consisting of Menwa, Racana Diponegoro and KSR Undip, departed from the LPPM Undip of ICT Building on Sunday, December 5th 2021 at 03:30 PM.

“This team has several main tasks including coordinating with the local Disaster Team from government elements, handling disaster surveillance (analysis of health impacts, food, etc.) and determining the needs of the next team. It is estimated that there will be 2-3 follow-up teams sent from Undip. This team consists of health and education personnel from various skill backgrounds. The team will also be assisted by existing student volunteers,” said dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med, MMR, Sp.And.(K), Ph.D, as General Chairperson of D-DART.

The members of this Surveillance Team are Arioseno Dwi Pradana (Menwa), Dewi Setyaningsih (Racana Diponegoro), Jaeni (KSR Undip) and Ika Laiki Ramdani (KSR Undip). The team has conducted initial communication with the Disaster Team at the scene.

There are several logistics needed by the victims including fast food, blankets, mineral water, vitamins, masks, tarpaulins/mats, blankets, food and infant milk, diapers and sanitation needs. May all those affected always have strength in the future. Please recover, Mother Earth. (AS)
