People often think that cancer and tumors are the same thing. In fact, however, they are not similar. A tumor is a lump or tissue that grows abnormally, which can be benign or malignant. While cancer is a malignant tumor that can spread to other parts of the body quickly and damage healthy cells around it.

“Uterus tumor is not the same as cancer, a tumor is a lump that grows on our body. Tumors do not have to be related to malignancy, fibroids and cysts are tumors and these tumors can have benign characteristics, generally harmless or malignant properties that have the potential to harm the body,” said Dr. Nurul Setiyorini, Sp.OG., Obstetrician of Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) of Diponegoro University.

According to dr. Nurul, the initial examination is confirming the type of tumor, if the type is normal, the patient does not have to worry too much. However the patient still has to be aware of tumors, cysts or myomas that have the potential to interfere with reproductive function. And of course, if suddenly a lump appears on the body, do not hesitate to consult an expert for proper diagnosis and treatment.

“There are several factors that cause uterine tumors, it can be genetic factors, patterns and lifestyle. Regarding malignancy, it is usually at an advanced stage. Women have high endurance, they can endure pain and do not complain a lot about symptoms, so that when a woman comes to the doctor she is already in an advanced stage. Talking about the sign of a uterine tumor is that the stomach is enlarged and the lump gradually becomes large,” she said.

Furthermore, dr. Nurul said that healthy lifestyle to prevent uterine tumors such as living healthy, doing exercise to increase metabolism, consuming nutritious food, and avoiding junk food or snacks. Do not forget to enjoy life and do screening, pap smears, physical examinations, as well as examinations by a doctor.

“Maintain a healthy and active lifestyle as well as a healthy diet. Stay positive in life and if you are sexually active, it means that you have to regularly visit a doctor to be checked up,” she concluded. (Lin – Public Relations)
