FISIP UNDIP Launched Six FIBAA International Accredited Study Programs in 2022

SEMARANG- The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) continued to establish itself as one of the internationally recognized faculties, targeting as many as six (6) study programs in 2022. The six study programs that are planned to achieve the international accreditation are Public Administration Undergraduate Study Program, Governance Science Undergraduate Study Program, Political Science Postgraduate Study Program, Communication Science Postgraduate Study Program, Public Administration Postgraduate Study Program and Social Science Doctoral Study Program.

This determination was expressed after two study programs namely Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program and Business Administration Undergraduate Study Program are succeeded in obtaining international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) from Germany in November 2021. The Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Undip, Dr. Drs. Hadi Warsono, MTP, stated that the FIBAA accreditation has strengthened Undip’s steps as a World Class University (WCU). “Hopefully this achievement will be a contribution to Undip and Indonesia,” said the Dr. Hadi when interviewed by the PR team, on Wednesday (12/29/2021).

As for the preparation of six study programs that will be listed for international accreditation in 2022, Dr. Hadi said that he had formed a special team in charge of working on the preparation of this assessment. The preparation includes providing international facilities, providing full English documents, providing international programs, preparing international academic learning facilities both face-to-face and online and hybrid meetings, as well as preparing a website in English for all academic activities. “Hopefully in the future the quality of education and competence will be improved.”

Dr. Hadi also said that in 2021 in addition to obtaining international accreditation for two study programs, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Undip also received achievements worldwide, namely being ranked +600+5 in the world’s top 5 in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR 600+5) based on the field of science (by subject). “The QS WUR ranking is held every year to help the public identify the leading universities in various countries according to a particular field of knowledge, including finding out the best universities in Indonesia,” he explained.

According to him, the ranking is determined based on an assessment of the situation, productivity, research impact (h-index), as well as the results of a global survey conducted on graduate users and academics. The QS WUR 2021 ranking covers various scientific fields from different fields of science, such as Art and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Science and Medical, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management and others.

“Besides this achievement, we have had 66 patents and intellectual property rights until this year, in the form of 7 module books to contribute to the nation’s progress in the social, political, policy and administrative fields,” he explained.

Previously, Undip Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Budi Setiyono S.Sos., M.Pol. Admin., Ph.D., said that in 2021 there were 15 study programs that directly passed international accreditation from FIBAA which had been proposed long before the proposal process began in January 2021.

He explained that the application for study program accreditation is in line with the Undip’s Development Master Plan for 2013-2026, where Diponegoro University is currently entering phase V (2020-2024) namely Strengthening Research Universities. This is in accordance with UNDIP’s Key Performance Indicators with World Class University criteria, that Undip is targeting 40 internationally accredited study programs.

“There are 25 study programs to be accredited from the 40 targets we have achieved. For this reason, we continue to encourage study programs to achieve international accreditation by improving services, human resource competencies, and infrastructure with international standards. We are very optimistic that the target of 40 internationally accredited study programs can be achieved,” said Prof. Budi.

In the context of quality assurance, Undip is committed to implementing two major patterns, namely the Internal Quality Assurance System and the External Quality Assurance System. The Internal Quality Assurance System is an organizational aspect built by university leaders that uses the Academic Quality Internal Audit (AIMA) instrument which consists of 12 Educational Standards and 3 Research and Community Service Standards.

Meanwhile, the External Quality Assurance System implemented by Undip follows National and International Standards including the accreditation standards from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT); FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation); ASIIN (The Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics); ABEST21 (The Alliance On Business Education And Scholarship For Tomorrow); and IABEE (Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education). The selection of international accrediting institutions is adjusted to the needs and competencies of the accrediting institutions. (PR team)
