Academic Peers Support in Increasing UNDIP’s Reputation on QS Academic Reputation

International recognition of the quality of education at Undip could be seen from the results of the QS WUR Academic Reputation Ranking. With Undip’s status as Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), Undip became more stable and authoritative in carrying out high-quality education and teaching processes and is able to serve the wider community. The educational process and academic activities that have been running at Undip have been on the right track and their quality must be continuously improved. Undip graduates were categorized as advanced and ready to compete in the world of work. Undip alumni are now spread throughout Indonesia and even in various countries with diverse professions. This supports the strengthening of Undip’s international reputation, especially in Academic Reputation. This was conveyed by the Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. in the “Workshop on Strengthening Academic Reputation” last week.

This workshop invited alumni who are currently working in the field of education and Undip’s academic partners. This workshop aimed to maximize and coordinate alumni who will contribute to strengthening the academic reputation of the 2022 QS WUR ranking.

On this occasion, Prof. Mohamad Nasir as a speaker conveyed about “Undip’s Strategy towards a World Class University”. Prof. Nasir said that currently QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) has been named as one of the best university ranking providers in the world and is recognized by the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG). QS WUR with 6 criteria for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions, gives a large assessment weight to Academic Reputation of 40%.

“The assessment of the Academic Reputation criteria uses a survey of 130,000 graduates from world-renowned universities. The survey subjects will be asked to answer questions related to the quality of education and teaching process of a higher education institution, the quality of graduates, and the quality of research and publications. Although Undip’s ranking through QS WUR continues to rise from year to year, Undip must continue to improve academic quality including the quality of the teaching process, research and publication activities, the quality of human resources, and the quality of graduates,” he said.

Furthermore, the second resource person, Prof. Denny Nugroho Sugianto said that currently the assessment of the academic reputation of Diponegoro University was still lacking compared to other state universities, with a score of 14.2. With the current score, Undip must continue to improve the quality of education and teaching process to stay in this position or even higher. The efforts that Undip has made in the last few years have been quite fruitful with Undip’s current ranking position. In recent years, Undip carried out many efforts to improve research and publications, improve the quality of human resources, improve and innovate teaching processes, and promote alumni networks. It is hoped to bring improvement of assessment and ranking of Undip at international level.
