Many people want to lose weight fast. No wonder that nowadays a variety of diets with strict methods is popping up in every media. However it turns out that losing weight with a strict diet can have dangerous consequences for the body.

Actually, in order to get the maximum benefit from each nutrient consumed, an individual must implement a healthy and nutritious diet. A healthy lifestyle can prevent various diseases as well as maintain nutritional intake through a healthy diet and balanced nutrition. The diet must also be done properly and of course adapted to the health conditions of each body.

“Regarding diet in today’s era, many people go on a diet but they tend to avoid foods that should be consumed or are more likely to limit one type of food, for example avoiding carbohydrates and not eating rice at all. Whereas we know carbohydrates are very important for the body as a source of energy and carbohydrates contain glucose which is needed to fuel the brain. Therefore, we cannot only eat from several types of food, the most important thing is balanced nutrition contained in complete foods, there are proteins, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals,” said dr. Enny Probosari, M.Sc., MED, Sp.GK (K), Clinical Nutrition Specialist of Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND), Diponegoro University.

“A good diet is to continuously consume a variety of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals with an adjusted portion. Meal times are necessary to be regulated, and do not forget to do additional physical activity. There are so many things that must be taken care of, not only avoiding one type of food. If you only want foods that are high in protein and fat, in the long term the cholesterol level in your body will increase because you eat meat every day. That’s not good for the long term because the body does not get the nutrition it needs. What needs to be considered, a person should lose weight in a healthy manner by considering balanced nutrition, the portion and amount of nutritional intake needed for the body. This needs to be consulted because everyone is different, for example, we can decide the diet from their activities or habits,” she explained.

dr. Enny said regarding the problem of malnutrition, usually people only choose one menu, for example chicken. However the body needs other protein intakes or needs vitamins contained in fruits, if all of them are not fulfilled then one day it can have an impact, for example anemia.

“For example, Indonesians generally lack vitamin D, even though we live in a country that is rich in the sun but its utilization is not optimal. We should be in the sun a lot and if the food does not contain much vitamin D, it will cause a problem too. By holding the principle of balanced nutrition, food intake must include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals in it so that development and growth of the body will be good. It should be understood that those who want to diet must pay attention to portions and time of eating and consult with health experts,” she concluded. (Lin – Public Relations)
