Diponegoro University held a medical examination for residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru, on Saturday (19/2). The medical examination took place at the Sumber Wuluh Village Hall from morning to evening. It was recorded that 111 residents of Candipuro Subdistrict, Lumajang Regency were enthusiastic about having their health checked.

“We came to check the health condition of our father who is currently sick, we hope that Undip doctor could give advice regarding his health,” said the son of Mr. Giran, aged 95, who took part in a medical examination at the Undip Health Service on Saturday morning. “Alhamdulillah, we have received medicine and were given advice for our father,” he said.

A total of 111 people took part in the medical examination which started from 09.00 AM to 03.00 PM. dr. Sri Winarni, one of the doctors who was in charge of examining the patient said that residents’ complaints were very varied, ranging from degenerative diseases, acute respiratory infection (ARI) to tumors.

Medical examination was held by Undip team of doctors and nurses from Semarang in collaboration with Undip Community Service “Peduli Semeru” who have been doing Community Service activities in Sumber Wuluh Village since the end of January 2022. The members of Undip Community Service “Peduli Semeru” will carry out their programs until March 14, 2022.

Cholesterol, uric acid and blood sugar levels are being examined thoroughly. Interestingly, dr. Hariadi Eko, representative of Lumajang University (Unilu) was also being examined at the site. “In addition to enlivening Undip activities, I also want to check my cholesterol level, thank God it turned out to be normal,” he said happily.

Attending the event carried out by Undip Community Service, the Head of Lumajang District Health Office, dr. Bayu appreciated the medical examination held for Lumajang residents, especially residents in Candipuro Subdistrict.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Sumber Wuluh Village, Syamsul Arifin expressed his gratitude to Undip for attending Sumber Wuluh Village and treating its residents. “We are very happy, we hope that in the future Undip will be able to carry out other forms of service in the village. Our residents are getting back up, especially the recovery from the economy that was hit by the eruption of Mount Semeru,” he said.

Alhamdulillah Undip has played a great role in assisting our community,” concluded the Secretary of Sumber Wuluh Village, whose residence is used as the Post of Undip Community Service “Peduli Semeru” in 2022.
