The Diponegoro University Community (UNDIP) Service Team together with IKA UNDIP Lumajang carried out activities with residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. Undip Community Service team provided assistance in the form of blankets, toiletries and a number of other aids to ease the burden on residents affected by Semeru, especially those in the Sumber Wuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency, East Java.

In carrying out the activities, the students and the Rector of Lumajang University, Dr. Hariadi Eko Romadhon were in temporary residence in line with the mandate of the Lumajang Regent who hoped that there will be a Community Service program in the shelter, which is located in the Sumber Mujur Village. In addition to having activities at the Sumber Mujur Village shelter, the Community Service students also run a work program of introduction of national insight from an early age at SD Sumber Wuluh 3 in Sumber Wuluh Village, Candipuro District. The Community Service students also introduced education and national insight by playing and singing together. The Community Service Students Team of Peduli Semeru 2022 is coordinated by Weno, a student of Faculty of Law Undip who will carry out Community Service programs with his team in Sumber Wuluh Village until March 14, 2022.

Undip Community Service programs began with an acceptance ceremony of the students at the Lumajang Regency pavilion led by the Deputy Regent of Lumajang, Ir. Hj. Indah Amperawati Masdar, M.Sc.

“I am very proud that this area is the location of the Diponegoro University Community Service. We hope that there will be another service program carried out by Undip in Lumajang in the future,” she hoped.
