DWP UNDIP Presented Siti Atikoh Ganjar Pranowo in the Talkshow “The Spirit of Kartini Creates Empowered Women and Happy Indonesian Families”

Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Diponegoro University held a talk show entitled “The Spirit of Kartini Creates Empowered Women and Happy Indonesian Families” on Friday (10/6). The speaker of the talk show was Siti Atikoh Ganjar Pranowo (wife of the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo), drg. Mi Greace W. Susanto, MM (Lecturer of Faculty of Medicine Undip), and moderated by Asih Budiastuti Yos Johan Utama (Chair of DWP Undip). This activity was also enlivened by a fashion show competition which was participated by DWP members.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. as Undip Rector. He conveyed that happiness is not about poverty or wealth, an individual could be not rich and look ordinary but happiness can bring goodness in someone’s life.

Meanwhile, the Chair of DWP Undip, Asih Yos Johan Utama, said that today’s Kartini is a Kartini who must be qualified. “In addition to thinking, appearance, understanding, knowledge, as Kartini today we must pay attention to how to get along with anyone regardless of status and always be humble,” she said.

Siti Atikoh Ganjar Pranowo said that in the past Kartini fought mainly for education because with education women can be empowered, one of the efforts is to have higher education and broaden horizons.

“Perhaps in the past it was difficult for women to have a career outside the home, but women are able to properly educate their children and become a support system for their husbands and their environment. Nowadays, of course, there are changes, where the challenges faced by women are very different. Men and women are given the widest opportunity both for education and for work, there is no gender limit, although for certain positions there is still a gender bias. We can actualize ourselves and take the opportunities that exist today, namely by empowering ourselves, it will be easier for us to provide benefits to the surrounding community and especially to our families,” she explained.

While drg. Greace explained that our significant other, husband or partner is what makes us have to continue to be empowered so that the family is happy.

“As women, we must have extraordinary power yet we have a soft personality. There is no work which is too difficult if it is done with a joyful heart. So we do everything with a happy heart and without a burden so that it will bring a sense of happiness,” concluded drg. Greace. (Lin – Public Relations)
