The Community Service Team of the Department of Animal Sciences, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University (FPP Undip) visited Dungus sub-village, Mundu Village, Tulung District, Klaten Regency on June 29, 2022. This activity was the initial step for the community service team to assist Mukti Andini Livestock Farmer Group with the theme “Prevention and Control of Foot and Mouth Diseases (PMK).

An outbreak of a virus that causes Foot and Mouth Diseases began to spread in Klaten district, especially at the KTT Mukti Andini, Mundu Village, Tulung District, Klaten Regency. According to the explanation from the Head of the KTT Mukti Andini, nearly 85% of dairy cattle were infected with the FMD virus.

In this activity, the Community Service Team of the Department of Animal Sciences, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University (FPP Undip) provided assistance to farmers with the initial step of taking an approach so as not to worry about cows that had contracted the FMD virus.

Standard operating procedures for preventing the spread of FMD include biosecurity for livestock, cages, equipment, vehicles, visitors, employees and goods. Tips for handling dairy products through boiling milk or at least pasteurization heated at 72⁰ C and disinfection of milk storage containers.
