FEB UNDIP Held 2022 Summer Course on Building Resilience Management and Steps Towards SDGs in a Multicultural, Digital, and Disruptive Business Era

In order to realize a World Class University (WCU), the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (FEB Undip) held an “Opening Ceremony–Economics and Business International Camp and Courses for Sustainability (EBICCS)” on Monday (11/07) at 13.00 WIB online via Zoom meeting platform. The EBICCS activity itself is an annual Summer Course program held by FEB Undip.

The EBICCS Opening Ceremony activity was attended by the Dean of FEB Undip and his staff, Head of Departments, Head of Study Programs, lecturers, and academics at FEB Undip, as well as participants of the FEB Undip Summer Course program.

Starting his remarks, the Dean of FEB Undip, represented by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs FEB Undip, Firmansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of life and provided valuable lessons for the world. A joint effort is needed to rebuild the economy in order to escape the economic crisis.

“Indonesia’s economic transformation, which is the main strategy for recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, requires research and innovation as the key to increasing productivity. Undip has an important role in promoting research and innovation, as well as building a strong knowledge and innovation ecosystem.” said Firmansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D.

Furthermore, Firmansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., reported that more than 450 participants took part in this year’s Summer Course program. They come from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Egypt, Nigeria, Uganda, Jordan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Zambia, Somalia, Croatia, Sierra Leone Republic, Singapore, and the United States.

Apart from Undip, Indonesian students come from various universities in Indonesia, including the University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, Andalas University, IPB, ITB, Semarang State University, UIN Malang, Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII), Muhammadiyah University Surakarta, Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University, Muria Kudus University, Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University, Putra Indonesia Padang University, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, SEBI College of Islamic Economics, PGRI University Semarang, and other universities.

“I am very grateful that in this pandemic situation, we can still hold Summer Course events even though they have to be done online. Hopefully this pandemic situation will not affect our enthusiasm to continue learning, and encourage us to look ahead to prepare for a better future. This is our third event after successfully holding the Summer Course in the previous year, and we are proud to inform you that we have more than 450 participants consisting of international and Indonesian participants.” explained Firmansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D.

This year’s EBICCS held online through the Zoom meeting platform on July 11-29, 2022. EBICCS 2022 has the theme “Building Management of Resilience and Action Towards SDGs in Multicultural, Digital, and Disruptive Era”. This program brings together international lecturers, academics, professionals, and industry experts to share and discuss current issues in management, accounting, and economics with students from various countries.

The lecturers and speakers are experts in their respective fields who have outstanding reputations. They are Prof. Dr. Noor Ismawati Binti Jaafar from Universiti Malaya, Malaysia; Dr. Kalliopi Chatzipanagiotou from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom; Prof. John Hamilton from James Cook University, Australia; Dr. Yun-Chia Tang from Tunghai University, Taiwan; Dr. Pok Wei Fong from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia; Dr. Omar Hamdan Mohammad Al Kharabsheh from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia; Dr. Chin Hon Choong from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Aisyah Abdul Rahman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia; Dr. Azlin Alisa Ahmad from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia; and Prof. Yuzuru Shimada from Nagoya University, Japan.

Other speakers who participated in this year’s FEB Undip Summer Course are Dr. S Zaung Nau from Curtin University, Australia; Dr. Arnold Japutra from the University of Western Australia; Association of Prof. Dr. Zarina Binti Zakaria from Universiti Malaya, Malaysia; Association of Prof. Dr. Suhaily Hasnan from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia; Dr. Anubha Srivastava from Christ University, India; James Walsh, B.A., Ph.D., from the IMF; Debbie Luffman from ThinkCircular and the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, UK; Anthony Haryono, Jovanovick Luidaniel & Brenda Christabella Wibisono from Bloomberg, United States; Syanaz Nadya Winanto Putri, Rorokenes Bag from sustainable MSMEs, Indonesia; Rio Saputra, S.E., M.Bus., from the Pasti Group (Food and Beverage Company), Indonesia, as well as a speaker from the Traveloka Company.

In addition, there are several speakers from Undip who also become resource persons for the Summer Course events, namely Prof. Drs. Augusty Tae Ferdinand, MBA., DBA., Dr. Harjum Muharam, S.E., M.E., Dra. Amie Kusumawardhani, M.Si., Ph.D., I Made Sukresna, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Mirwan Surya Perdhana, S.E., M.M., Ph.D., Dr. rer. pol. Alfa Farah, S.E., M.Sc., and Cahyaningratri, S.E., M.Bus.

This program also aims as a means to build international networks, increase knowledge and skills for participants, increase awareness on the SDGs and how to apply the SDGs in a multicultural, digital, and disruptive business environment. Various aspects and perspectives of the speakers will encourage students to study comprehensively.
