The graduation ceremony is one of the moments that students look forward to when they successfully complete their final assignment. At that time, the graduates usually invite their parents and family to attend the graduation ceremony to share their moments of happiness.
However at this happy time there is a moment of grief because they have to represent family members who have passed away to graduate. This happened to Ivan. He came at the 167th graduation ceremony of Diponegoro University (Undip) to represent his father, the late. Nedi Sunaedi who has passed away.
The late Nedi Sunaedi is a student of Undip Postgraduate School who has taken a doctoral study in Environmental Science and successfully graduated with a GPA of 3.67. It is planned that he will graduate on July 28, 2022 at the Undip 167th Undip graduation ceremony at the Prof. Soedarto SH Building, Undip Tembalang campus. Unfortunately God’s destiny said otherwise, he died on July 14, 2022 due to illness.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., in his speech conveyed his deep condolences and stated that the dream of the deceased must continue. “Especially for the son who represents the father who has passed away, your father will be happy if you can continue your father’s journey. Insyaallah, that is the true devotion of children.” said Prof. Yos.
Furthermore, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., Undip Rector came and gave the graduation certificate of Ivan’s father and encouraged him to continue his father’s dream.
Meanwhile, Ivan felt proud and touched by the struggle of his father in pursuing his education. “I feel proud, because my father was able to complete his doctoral education, considering the struggles and challenges he faced until he graduated. There are feelings of emotion and sadness, considering that he should be the one who was present at this graduation ceremony.” he explained.
The late Nedi Sunaedi is known as a hardworking person, a good mentor for his co-workers and students, as well as a person who is patient and diligent in his work. In addition, the late Nedi Sunaedi always advised his family to always remember Allah SWT by not neglecting the prayer.
“At work he is known as a hard worker, mentor for his co-workers, supportive work partner, educator who provides all the knowledge and guidance for his students. He is patient and diligent in doing his job. In the family, he is a loving, caring, and good listener who always advises to remember Allah SWT by praying,” said Ivan.
The late Nedi Sunaedi is a lecturer at the Geography Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Siliwangi University, Tasikmalaya. He got bachelor degree of Geography Education at the Indonesian Education University, then continued to get his master degree of Geography at the Gadjah Mada University, doctoral degree of Environmental Science at Diponegoro University.
