Syahara Khoerunissa, a student of Management study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (Undip) class of 2021 has achieved brilliant achievement in the last 2 months (August – September 2022). Syahara made an international achievement for the first time representing Diponegoro University by winning 2 gold medals in archery of the Compound Mixed Team and 1 bronze medal of the Women’s Individual Compound at the 2022 ASEAN UNIVERSITY GAMES (AUG) event.

AUG XX is a prestigious biennial sporting event involving athletes from universities from ASEAN member countries starting from 26 July to 6 August 2022, in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. Previously, Syahara, who is considered as a national level athlete, had won a silver medal of the Women’s Individual Compound number in her inaugural match at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) 2021 representing Banten.

Syahara said, “AUG XX was a memorable experience for me since it is my first time competing in an international event carrying the name of Indonesia. I felt proud and touched to see the red and white flag raising and the anthem Indonesia Raya playing. “I didn’t expect to witness it but I believe that this will not be my last participation in an international event as a representative of Indonesia. Of course, I am proud because I can bring the good name of Indonesia, Banten, South Tangerang, Power Archery as a place for me to train and Undip as a place for me to study,” she added.

She is also happy to share the secret of her success. “Continue to train tirelessly every day and follow the directions from coaches, managers and clubs. Prayers and support from parents, especially my mother who tirelessly prays for me, are powerful strength. Don’t forget to learn to be sincere and be patient with the results of the competition,” she said.

Her interest in studying in the management study program is of course due to the scope of work being wide, almost all fields of work require bachelor of management.

Syahara successfully passed the Undip entrance exam through the Student with Achievement path. “Education is important but having activities in other fields and being able to excel in it can boost self-confidence and make ourselves proud. For me, the sport of archery really helped me in addressing problems in my life. Even though it’s hard to balance my class schedule and doing assignments, I still manage to be able to practice every day,” she said.

In a series of other achievements, Syahara managed to achieve a gold medal in the general qualification of Women’s Individual Compound number; a silver medal in the general Women’s Compound and a bronze in the Women’s Team Compound representing the Undip Archery Unit in the UGM Open Archery Championship recently in September 2022.
