DWP UNDIP Advisor: Important Role of Women in Family Resilience

Semarang – Central Java (7/12). The celebration in commemoration of the 23rd Anniversary of Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) by DWP UNDIP which was held on Wednesday (7/12) at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) UNDIP was lively. The 23rd Anniversary of Dharma Wanita Persatuan in 2022 carried the theme “Raising Smart Women to Strengthen Resilience in the Digital Era”. Along with the development of the times, especially in today’s digital era, women must be good, capable and wise in facing the ever changing challenges. Therefore, women must be smart, considering that women have an important role, especially in the family.

The commemoration of DWP 23rd Anniversary was opened with a report from Mrs. Linda Budiyono as Chair of the Committee, as well as the host of the event organizer. Followed by remarks from the Chairperson of the DWP UNDIP, Mrs. Asih Yos Johan Utama. “The series of events commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the DWP by DWP UNDIP included a pilgrimage to the Undip Cemetery, distribution of assistance to Cianjur earthquake victims and Legal Talks about women who are aware of the law,” said Mrs. Asih. She added that Indonesian women, especially the Undip community, must really be ready to face any challenges because Undip women who are able to solve various problems make the household calm, comfortable, peaceful and harmonious. “If every household of Undip residents is comfortable, then Undip as a whole becomes comfortable and peaceful,” she explained. For assistance to victims of the Cianjur earthquake, it was symbolically accepted by the Head of Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Undip, Prof. Dr. Jamari, ST., MT. and General Chairperson of D-DART (Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team), dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto,M.Si.,Med.,Sp.And(K),M.M.R.,Ph.D. The assistance would be distributed to earthquake victims in Cianjur.

On this occasion, the DWP UNDIP Advisor, namely the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M.Hum. conveyed that women, especially mothers, are the ones in control in the family. “The roles of women as wives and mothers are very important, especially in maintaining the integrity and harmony of the household,” said Prof. Yos, his nickname. “Therefore, a wife as well as a mother must be intelligent in managing the family to create a comfortable and harmonious family environment,” continued Prof. Yos. “To support intelligent women, women also have the same opportunity to obtain a higher level of education, because it is the foundation and knowledge capital to educate their children at home, and in an effort to respond to changing challenges such as the current digital era,” he explained.

In line with the theme “Raising Smart Women to Strengthen Resilience in the Digital Era”, the DWP 23rd Anniversary commemoration event at FKM UNDIP was continued with a casual talk with 2 (two) speakers namely Mrs. Asih Yos Johan Utama as Chairperson of the DWP UNDIP and Mrs. Rika Agung Wibowo which discussed the theme “Women Aware of the Law” to increase the provision of knowledge for DWP women in UNDIP. In her presentation, Mrs. Rika conveyed about the Transfer of Land Rights. It was further explained that there are several matters relating to the Transfer of Land Rights, including the Transfer of Land Rights through Sale and Purchase, Transfer of Land Rights through Grants and Transfer of Land Rights through Inheritance.

It was followed by the second speaker, namely Mrs. Asih Yos Johan Utama, who conveyed about domestic violence (KDRT). Mrs. Asih explained that violence experienced in the household, especially women, namely wives or mothers, can be in the form of physical violence and also psychological violence. Reports of physical violence can be proven by forensic results. Meanwhile, psychological violence is characterized by feelings of fear, anxiety and other disturbances that require the treatment of a psychologist or psychiatrist. Victims who experience domestic violence should report immediately to get treatment quickly.

It is hoped that by obtaining sufficient knowledge, women will become intelligent in addressing the problems that occur. In the future, the DWP UNDIP plans to establish a consultation room to help with problems that befall mothers, women, adolescents and children who experience both physical and psychological violence. By sharing stories, it is hoped that it will reduce the burden, especially the burden on women as wives and also mothers, to be strong again to maintain the family, protect the family and create harmonious life for the family.
