Cianjur Disaster Response Thematic Community Service (KKNT TB) Student Team of the Diponegoro University (Undip) has carried out activities to help victims affected by the earthquake in Cibeureum Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java, in collaboration with the community and the Cibeureum Village Government. These activities include collecting data on residents’ houses which are categorized as heavily damaged and will be torn down, implementing the reading garden program and assisting in carrying out the demolition of the Cibeureum Village Archives Building.

On the first day (18/1) the KKNT TB UNDIP team helped pack and distribute logistics in the form of groceries which were grouped into 2 packages, namely packages with children and without children. The distribution was carried out according to the household in stages at 4 points in each RW in Cibeureum Village, using ambulances and pick-ups assisted by Babinsa and other village officials.

On the second day (19/1), the Undip team carried out data collection activities for residents of RW 01 and RW 02 which were in the category of heavily damaged and about to be demolished. The purpose of collecting data on residents’ houses is to help village officials who are short of manpower in the process of verifying data on residents’ houses which are in the heavy category and will be torn down. The team made 3 categories of houses to make data collection easier, namely houses that had been demolished in sterile conditions, houses that had been demolished in not yet sterile conditions, and houses that had not been demolished.

There were several statements submitted by the residents including many considerations from each household whether the demolished house would later be built by themselves or built by the government. Then for houses that have not been demolished, residents are confused if their house is torn down where will the items in the house be placed, and there are several houses in the moderate category, but because they are considered dangerous, the house is torn down.

Not only residents’ houses, the team also conducted a survey of reading gardens in RW 01, 02 and 03 through interviewing kindergarten owners, madrasahs, posts, and looking directly at temporary shelters (Hunian Sementara / huntara) that had been established, with the aim of determining the exact location so that they could used for reading gardens. Apart from that, they also built evacuation tents that will be used by local residents as temporary shelters because their houses have been torn down.

On the third day of implementation (20/1), the Undip team continued the activities of collecting data on residents’ houses in RW 03, 04 and 06. They also participated in the socialization of PERBUP Kab. Cianjur no 350/kep.407-bpd-2022 Concerning Technical Guidelines for Repairing Houses due to Earthquakes in Cianjur District C with Disperkim, BPD, BPBD, Community, and Cibeureum Village Government located at the Cibeureum Village office. The first data collection was carried out on residents of RW 03 which consisted of 4 RTs. It resulted that in RT 01 there were 10 houses that had been recorded with 3 houses that had been demolished with sterile, 4 houses that were demolished with non-sterile, and 3 houses which had not been torn down. In RT 02 there were 38 houses that had been demolished with 6 houses that had been demolished in a sterile manner, 11 houses that had been demolished in a non-sterile manner, and 21 houses that had not been demolished. In RT 03 there were 14 houses that were recorded with 2 houses that had been demolished in a sterile manner, 6 houses that had been demolished without being sterile, and 6 houses that had not been demolished. In RT 04 there were 33 houses with no sterile demolition, 11 houses that were demolished without sterilization, and 22 houses that had not been demolished.

On Saturday (21/1) the team helped demolish the archive building because it suffered quite heavy damage due to the earthquake that occurred, so that the building could not be used again as before because it would endanger village officials and village residents who would use the building, so it must be rebuilt.
