Semarang – Central Java. The  International Affairs Office of Diponegoro University (KUI Undip) held a webinar entitled “Socialization of 2023 IISMA” aimed at Diponegoro University students on Tuesday (24/1). This event was held online which was attended by approximately 200 participants ranging from undergraduate and vocational students to PSDKU (Study Programs Outside the Main Campus) Diponegoro University. The invited speakers in this socialization were the Head of the 2023 IISMA Program (Dr-Eng, Rachmat Sriwijaya, S.T., M.T.), 2022 IISMA awardee (Athiya Rahima Hendrarto) and 2022 IISMAeVo awardee (Derryl Joshua Aleyhandro) from Diponegoro University. This event was moderated by Diastama Ramadhan, S. H., LLM. as Deputy Head of the International Affairs Office Undip.

The event lasted for two hours which began with an opening by the MC, followed by remarks from Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. as Head of the Office of International Affairs Undip. In her remarks, Anggun advised that in achieving goals, students must achieve them by participating in various experiences, one of which is through this program from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

In the next session, Dr-Eng, Rachmat Sriwijaya provided material related to the registration flow, conditions, and requirements that must be met by the awardee candidates. One of the important things in this socialization is that this year’s IISMA and IISMAeVo are a program that accommodates students from undergraduate and vocational programs.

The second speaker, namely Athiya Rahima Hendrarto (student of Law from the Faculty of Law) who is one of the IISMA awardees from the University of Golway, Ireland, told about her IISMA journey. She also gave tips and tricks to Undip students in the program selection process. One of them is that awardee candidates are required to do research before choosing a university to go to. Athiya also added that in essay writing sessions, awardee candidates must be themselves, there is no need to exaggerate one’s own potential in essay writing.

The last session was closed with material delivered by one of the awardees from IU of Applied Science, Germany, namely Derryl Joshua Aleyhandro (student of Naval Engineering from the Vocational School). He provided new knowledge about things that must be prepared before being in another country, starting from the culture to the current condition of the destination country. At the end of his session, Derryl also gave motivation to the awardee candidates. “Don’t limit yourself to skills and potential. What is interesting, please try and what is comfortable in your heart, please sharpen it. You never know what talent will make you a star. Of course the proper star is one that can illuminate the surroundings,” he said.
