“During my studies, I actively participated in committees, organizations, and the Kampus Merdeka internship program as well as independent internships. In committees and organizations, I was not only involved in events or organizations on campus but also in the community. In my opinion, the most challenging experience of the committee was when I became Chief Executive of INDISCO 12 (Industrial Design Seminar and Competition). Considering that this event has an international standard, especially in the Southeast Asia region, of course, the challenges faced are also greater, especially it was carried out in 2020 where the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. I, along with my committee friends, had to work hard on how this event could run even during a pandemic. Eventually this event was able to take place smoothly despite it being the first time to be held online,” said Chandra Irawan, a graduate Industrial Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering Undip who was inaugurated at the 169th Undip graduation ceremony.

Apart from actively participating in committees, Chandra also had a lot of organizational experience during his university days including HMTI (Industrial Engineering Student Association) and LPM (Student Press Institute) Momentum.

“At HMTI I served for 3 years, from semester 2 to semester 7 starting as a staff of the scientific division, then became an expert staff of the scientific division in the 2nd year, and in the 3rd year I became the Coordinator of the BPH (Association Advisory Board). Apart from that, I also had the opportunity to become an OPSI (Industrial System Optimization and Planning) laboratory assistant for 2 years, the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 periods,” he continued.

The most memorable experience for him was succeeding in becoming a participant in the Kampus Merdeka Internship Batch I at PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk with its program entitled UAIP (Unilever Academy Internship Programme).

“Being part of one of the Top Multinational FMCG companies is something I am proud of, because this is one of the main assets and has more value to be able to compete in the world of work after we graduate. With the professional experience gained, this is an asset for us to become candidates that other companies are interested in,” explained the man who graduated with a GPA of 3.88.

“Diponegoro University is very supportive in providing optimal services, facilities and support for its students to study, work and achieve according to their individual interests. Especially what I felt during the pandemic, how lectures were held online, Undip continued to provide support so that learning could continue by providing internet quota assistance, appropriate learning platforms, and other forms of support,” he continued.

“As a student, academic achievement is an obligation that must be carried out, fulfilled, and accounted for. However, as a student, if I only focus on academic matters, I don’t think it’s enough. Students also need to balance their lives with various non-academic activities. Education is not just about getting learning material from teachers or lecturers at school or college, but we can get any form of education from anywhere. One of them is through the organization, here we get a lot of knowledge so that we are able to be communicative, adaptive, build social networking, collaboration, and excel in other aspects of social life. The experience we have previously gained in organizations has become a provision for us to be able to struggle and compete in life after college,” concluded Chandra. (Lin-Nuril / Public Relations)
