Diponegoro University’s extended family mourned the death of the Faculty of Humanities Professor Prof. Dr. Istiati Soetomo who passed away to the presence of Allah SWT on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 12.05 WIB in Kudus.
The body was departed from the funeral home at Kudus and the funeral ceremony was held on Friday morning, July 10, 2020 led by the Undip Rector at the Auditorium of the Undip Pleburan Campus. Then, the body was buried at the UNDIP Tembalang Cemetery Complex.
“The contribution of the deceased in the fields of education, science, service and activities for the alma mater and the community has been extensively felt. The deceased was one of the best prodigy ever owned by Diponegoro University”, explained Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M.Hum during the burial ceremony.
The late Prof. Istiati during her life had served as the Head of English Department at the Faculty of Literature (now the Faculty of Humanities) Undip in 1985-1988, Head of Undip Service English Unit (SEU) in 1987, Dean of Undip Faculty of Literature in 1989-1992 and had also served as the Head of Undip Foreign Language Unit in 1993.
The deceased was the daughter of R. Ismoen, the eighth descendant of the Mataram Islamic King Amangkurat IV. Died at the age of 87 years (1933-2020) and left two daughters and a son, Dr. Cita Wahyu SP, ENT, dr. Iris Sarwastuti, MMR and Dr. Arya Hasanuddin. Hopefully the deceased will find a Husnul Khotimah and the family left behind are given fortitude and patience.
