Undip Cares for the Environment and Human Environment

SEMARANG – Rector of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum, urges the entire academic community to increase concern for the environment and the human environment, because the two environments are equally important. This is stated by Prof. Yos when giving a speech at the beginning of the Social Service Series to commemorate the 63rd Anniversary of UNDIP, which is held at the Rectorate Office, Friday (2/10/2020).

On that occasion, the Rector symbolically hands over the assistance of basic food packages, masks, hand sanitizers and disinfectants to the community, represented by the Tembalang Village Head, Kramas Village Head, Bulusan Village Head, and Tembalang District Head of Semarang City. The assistance come from IKA UNDIP, JNE, PT Sidomuncul and PT Jamkrindo.

“In commemoration of this Anniversary, we carry out many social service activities, which are already part of UNDIP which are held every year. Alhamdulillah, our beloved campus is 63 years old, we have done a lot. I ask all UNDIP staff to raise awareness of the human environment and the environment. There is a saying that bowl fence are stronger than wall fence. Therefore, we give a bowl, to help the community around us”, said the Rector.

According to the Rector, even though many things have been done, the efforts to do good deeds must not stop. It must be done continually. He gives an example that social service is carried out not only on COVID-19 pandemic period. This top ranks university also continues to provide trainings to the community and conduct research that is beneficial to society and the country.

UNDIP is also committed to move forward in serving good quality education. This includes providing assistance to students from underprivileged groups, which number reaches thousands by giving discount and exemption of Single Tuition Fee / UKT (Uang Kuliah Tunggal), and implementing the Indonesia Smart College Card (Kartu Indonesia Pintar) program initiated by the government.

The chairman of the 63rd Anniversary Committee who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc, PhD, said that there are many series of activities held in UNDIP’s anniversary. As was done on Friday (2/10/2020) the distribution of aid in the form of 250 liters of hand sanitizers (10 derigens @ 20 liters and 10 derigens @ 5 liters), 150 liters of disinfectants (30 derigens @ 5 liters) and 1,000 pcs of cloth masks.

In a series of events, on 15 October 2020 the Vice President, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, is scheduled to be a speaker in a scientific oration. Other activities include tree planting in the Penggaron forest area, which is a forest covering an area of 99.6 hectares in Semarang Regency, Central Java, whose management has been submitted by the government to UNDIP. All activities are surely carried out by implementing health protocols.
