UNDIP Becomes Host of POMPROV Central Java in 2022 Karate Sports

Diponegoro University is trusted to be the host of the Central Java Province Student Sports Week (POMPROV Central Java) 2022 in the field of sport Karate. The activity took place at the Imam Bardjo Auditorium Building, Undip Pleburan Campus, and the competition was held on September 2-3, 2022.

In his speech while opening the event, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H, M.Hum. said that the sport of karate really shapes our performance, not only physically but mentally.

“In accordance with the oath of Karate which is always oriented towards maintaining personality, manners, self-control, honesty, and achievement, these are the qualities of a knight. Today the participants will enter the world of achievement and whoever the winner is, we are all winners together. We are the winners because we dare to uphold honesty, to remain polite, and to be able to control ourselves. Indonesia needs people who are able to maintain personality, maintain honesty, excel in their fields, remain polite, and control themselves. This is our part of the joint effort to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, continue to struggle and achieve records as high as possible. We are ready to facilitate not only at the local, national, but also global levels, all of which will improve quality and make Indonesia stronger and more prosperous,” said the Rector.

Meanwhile, in his report, Deputy Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Nuswantoro Dwiwarno, S.H., M.H. delivered a list of Karate contingents of 31 from universities in Central Java.

“The purpose and objectives of this activity are as a form of fostering student sports achievements at the Central Java Provincial Level, improving student athlete achievements so that they can compete at a higher level and make the alma mater proud, as well as as a selection event for student athletes in Central Java Province towards the National Sports Week which will be held in Padang, West Sumatra,” he explained.
