FT UNDIP Successfully Hosted the Dean and Staff’s Course from the Indonesian Engineering Dean Forum

Diponegoro University – Semarang. The Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (FT Undip) had the opportunity to host the Dean and Staff’s Course from the Indonesian Engineering Dean Forum (FDTI) which was held on March 14-15, 2023. The opening ceremony which took place in the Engineering Hall Floor 5 of the Dean Building of FT Undip was attended by the Rector of Undip, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip and their staff, the FDTI Advisory Board, the General Chairperson of FDTI, the Dean and Education Staff of the Faculty of Engineering who participated in the Dean and Staff’s Course who came from various regions throughout Indonesia.

The event was officially opened by Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. In his remarks he welcomed the participants of the Dean and Staff’s Course program. “Welcome to Undip. This forum is useful and important. Congratulations and success, I hope this event will further strengthen and improve the quality of the organization,” he said.

Chairman of the FDTI Prof. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. revealed that this activity was a combination of events between the Dean Course whose participants were the Deans and the Course Staff whose participants were education staff. “This is a suggestion from the Dean of FT Undip, how education staff, who is a partner of the Faculty Leaders, must have the same understanding of how the Faculty of Engineering is going in the future, and how to realize the performance targets that have been set,” explained Prof. Selo.

Prof. Selo explained that the Dean and Staff’s Course activity is a forum for friendship and synergy between the Deans of the Faculty of Engineering. “In accordance with the vision of FDTI, namely Uniting Visions Intertwining Synergy, this activity aims to jointly think about and work together in the development of the world of technology. We know that the position of the Faculty of Engineering is very strategic to bring about change, so we need to align the vision so that it becomes a big force and can contribute to the progress of the nation,” he added.

“We hope that the Dean and Staff’s Course will continue next year, every year there will be more activities that are repeated for the Dean and education staff,” he explained.

In line with Prof. Selo, Dean of FT Undip Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. said that this activity also aims to be a gathering place and establish networking so as to create a positive synergy between the Deans. “For us, the Vision of the Indonesian Dean of Engineering Forum (FDTI) is extraordinary, even though we are different, we still have to work together to build this Indonesian nation,” said Prof. Agung.

Furthermore, Prof. Agung explained that the participation of education staff in this forum was one of the ways to improve his competition skills. “One of higher education’s strengths is in human resources, so we propose that education staff be included in this event. Alhamdulillah, it was approved by the Chairman of the General. The Dean and education staff must become a solid team and work well together, so they can manage an institution well,” he concluded.

The Indonesian Engineering Dean Forum (FDTI) is one of the forums declared on May 24, 2017, at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. From this activity, it continued to develop and became a forum for coordination and friendship between the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the education staff.
