Alifia Valda Syahputri (New Prospective Student of SBMPTN): I Have Wanted to Study at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences UNDIP Since Junior High School

Indonesia as an archipelagic country has great potential for marine resources, including marine and inland waters. The fisheries and marine sectors are the potentials of Indonesia, so that good water management knowledge is needed in managing fishery and aquatic resources to remain sustainable.

As one of the leading educational institutions in Indonesia, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Diponegoro University does not only offer theoretical knowledge and learning in the classroom, but also provides practical-based education in the laboratory and in the field. Moreover, students are required to think critically and independently as a form of strengthening competitiveness in the global fisheries and marine industries. The missions of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Undip include providing quality higher education in the field of fisheries and marine affairs, conducting research and scientific publications, producing Intellectual Property Rights in the field of fisheries and marine affairs, and carrying out student activities to support the achievement of COMPLETE (Communicator, Professional, Leader, Entrepreneurs, Thinkers, and Educators) graduate qualifications.

Alifia Valda Syahputri, a graduate of SMA N 6 Bogor who was accepted through Joint Entrance Selection of State Universities (Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri / SBMPTN) at Diponegoro University, said that her motivation for choosing Undip as a campus to continue her studies was because Undip is one of the favorite and excellent campuses in Indonesia. “Since junior high school, I have wanted to continue my studies to Semarang City and the major I have chosen is Aquatic Resources Management which has Accreditation of A,” she said.

“After opening the announcement and knowing that I passed exam at Undip, I feel happy and touched because finally my dream since middle school has come true. I am very proud to be able to continue my studies at a university. Since not everyone can get this opportunity, I am very grateful and will be excited to study in the major I have chosen,” she continued.

Aquatic Resources Management is the study program chosen by Alifia, according to her, she is interested in this study program because it examines the interaction between aquatic natural resource systems. Human resources of marine scholars are so much needed in world of work nowadays. The aquatic sector in Indonesia is very broad and not all universities have this major.

“Besides Undip is one of the best universities in Indonesia and has been established for a long time, many faculties or study programs here are accredited A. From the information about Undip that I accessed through social media, Undip also offers scholarships which are certainly very helpful for students. The facilities it has are also very good and support the teaching and learning process, such as the existence of laboratories at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. By continuing my education here, I hope to be more advanced in developing knowledge. Education plays a very important role in advancing the nation, as well as improving the quality of human resources. Get a good education is also the opportunity to get a better life,” concluded Alifia. (Linda – Public Relations)
