UNDIP Facilitates Anemia Screening for Children and Adolescents at At Taqwa Orphanage

Division of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University in collaboration with IKA Medica, chaired by Prof. Dr. dr. Banundari Rachmawati, SpPK(K) held an anemia screening activity for children and adolescents at the At Taqwa Orphanage, Tembalang District, Semarang City (10/9).

This activity is part of a series of events for welcoming the Anniversary of Faculty of Medicine Undip. It was held with the aim to increase knowledge and understanding to the public about the importance of knowing the status of anemia in children and adolescents. It is hoped that treatment can be carried out to improve the health status of children and adolescents. Anemia (lack of blood) can be prevented by improving nutritional status and early detection of iron needs.

The series of activities is the delivery of material on Anemia by Dr. dr. Meita Hendrianingtyas, MSi.Med, SpPK(K), followed by an examination of blood hemoglobin levels and blood types for all children and adolescents at the At Taqwa Orphanage, then a follow-up examination of the group of anemic children to determine the cause of anemia. This event was attended by the Head of the Department of Clinical Pathology, FK Undip, dr. Dwi Retnoningrum, Sp.PK(K), Head of the Clinical Pathology Study Program, FK Undip, Dr. dr. Nyoman Suci W, M.Kes., Sp.PK (K) and a lecturer of Clinical Pathology of FK Undip, Dr. dr. Indranila KS, Sp.PK (K), Dr. dr. I. Edward KSL, MM, M.H.Kes.,M.Si.Med., Sp.PK(K), dr. Ariosta Sp.PK (K), Rizky Dyaz Afriana, AMd, and Davina Kemala, SE as the committee.
