WEBINAR Undip SDG’s Series 2020 Serie_1: 3rd SDGs_Health and Well-Being 

Theme: Strategy for Improving Public Health Quality during the Covid-19 Pandemic

(Thursday, April 30, 2020) Diponegoro University consistently partakes a role in achieving and implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) which is a global development agreement to achieve sustainable development. Especially in the current era, during the spread of the Corona Virus COVID-19 pandemic that spreads in almost 210 countries and territories in the world with a total of 3.2 million cases and a mortality rate of over 200 thousand lives (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/update April 30, 2020).

With a great desire to contribute in solving various issues that arise as a result of this pandemic, Diponegoro University Ranking Office launched WEBINAR Undip SDG’s Series 2020 which this time presented speakers with their respective expertise to discuss and provide ideas and solutions for implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)

This webinar series featuring SDG’s Health and Well-Being with the theme “Strategy for Improving the Quality of Public Health during the Covid-19 Pandemic” was carried out in April 30, 2020 live via Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook. The presented speakers were the Central Java Governor H. Ganjar Pranowo, SH., M.I.P, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Undip Dr. dr. Dwi Pudjonarko, Sp.S (K), then Prof. Dr. Drh. I Gusti Ngurah Kade Mahardika as Professor from Udayana and Assoc Universities. Prof. Dr. Djull Acun Dermawan @Tan Tek Song from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The event was opened by Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M.Hum. and moderated by Prof. Dr. Denny Nugroho Sugianto, ST., MSi. as the Head of the Diponegoro University Ranking Office and as the organizer of the WEBINAR Undip SDG’s Series 2020 event.

In his remarks, the Rector of Diponegoro University supported the efforts in solving the Covid-19 issue which was in line with the implementation of SDGs No. 3 (Health and Well-Being), namely ensuring a healthy life and supporting welfare for all ages as well as actualizing sustainable human development.

The first speaker, the Governor, delivered the latest data of the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in Central Java and outlined the strategic steps that had been taken explicitly by the Central Java Provincial Government in breaking the chain of the Corona virus spread. Meanwhile, Dr. Dwi presented historical data on the spread of Covid-19 and the steps that could be taken by institutions and individuals in reducing the spread of the virus. In addition, he also announced the activities carried out by Diponegoro University.

Another speaker, Prof. Mahardika, explored the latest research developments including a detailed explanation of the origin and characteristics of Covid-19. He also conveyed some of the strengths and weaknesses of the Indonesian people during the Covid-19 Pandemic and the possibilities of various attempts to obtain a vaccine for Covid-19.

The last speaker was Dr. Djull Acun Dermawan. He provided knowledge regarding the strategic steps taken by the Malaysian Government in combating Covid-19 and provides recommendations which are steps to increase productivity independently, in families or groups during this Pandemic.

The number of participants who partakes in this Webinar was around 647 people from 49 Government Agencies / BUMN, 18 Private Agencies, 14 LSM / NGO, and 93 PTN / PTS throughout Indonesia, as well as from various elements including government, academics, researchers, college students, students, and advocates spread across various regions in Indonesia and several countries such as Malaysia, Japan, USA, and Netherlands. An active role and cooperation between the government, institutions and the community are needed so that we together can immediately getting through this pandemic. Especially the socialization and improvement of public knowledge regarding the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and its preventive actions.
