As is known, the ranking of higher education is carried out by several institutions, ranging from the national level ranking, the ASEAN level, then the Asian level and lastly the world level. At the world level, there are two institutions whose ranking results are trusted and recognized as a reference for performance by higher education providers, namely webometrics, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World Rankings and THE (Times Higher Education).

Webometric is a site that independently evaluates the ranking of a university around the world using presence indicators that assess the number of pages of a university website; visibility that assesses the number of university website links listed on other websites; transparency which means the number of citations in google scholar, as well as excellence that assesses the number of scientific works indexed by scimagojr.com.

The QS World University Rankings is an annual university ranking publication conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Originally QS World University Rankings used the THE-QS World University Rankings label in collaboration with the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine during the period 2004-2009 to publish international league tables. However, entering 2010, each went its own route. QS World published its own ranking with the methodology originally used, while THE adopted a new methodology.
