KKN UNDIP Students Held a Product Innovation Exhibition with the Theme “Panorama”

Diponegoro University, Tegal Regency – Before the end of the Community Service Program (KKN), Diponegoro University students who took part in the Community Service Program in Tegal Regency, Central Java presented the results of their work program during the implementation of Community Service. The presentation of the innovative work was held at the MWCNU Talang Building, Tegal Regency on Sunday morning (12/2/2023). This is a form of progress report and evaluation of KKN activities. Each of the KKN teams from Talang Sub-District, Dukuhturi Sub-District, and Adiwerna Sub-District conveyed the flagship programs they had and are currently running. These superior programs and products are compiled based on field surveys and mapping of problems at each KKN location. Each sub-district represents 10 villages so that they can produce a variety of products.

The exhibition was filled with 30 (thirty) tenants who displayed the innovations of KKN Undip Team I students from each post in the village with their respective potentials. This activity was attended by the Head of BAPPEDA LITBANG Tegal Regency, Head of BPSDM Diponegoro University as well as all Heads of Sub District and Village in KKN area.

According to Prof. Ir. Mochamad Arief Budihardjo, S.T., M.Eng.Sc, Env.Eng, Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng. in this KKN activity, students have the opportunity to implement the knowledge gained on campus and apply it to society, maybe not directly but slowly have a positive impact on society. Thus providing a change in the direction of progress.

“Our hope is that the program and products of KKN students in Tegal Regency can benefit the community so that there is synergy and continuity between Diponegoro University and the Tegal Regency Government. In the future, we will renew the MOU PKS (cooperation agreement) so that the programs and innovation products made by Undip KKN students can run as required by the Tegal Regency Government,” said Prof. Arief.

Meanwhile, the flagship program of KKN students initiated by the Bandar Sub-District KKN team included mapping the distribution of children with indications of stunting, utilizing cigarette butts as natural pesticides, procuring floating trash bins and mentoring and introducing the Rain Water Harvesting system for water reserves. Pecalungan Sub-District KKN team has educational innovation programs such as making short stories with a heroic theme to spark children’s interest in reading, utilizing livestock waste for maggot (fly larvae) cultivation, utilizing household organic waste through an eco-enzyme process and a number of other excellent programs which are composed using cultural, social, natural, and technological elements approaches. Wonotunggal Sub-District KKN team has an educational program to design the ideal and comfortable village hall concept in the style of tropical architecture and design a sustainable clean water system to a freshwater fish farming program.

The flagship program for KKN students initiated by the Tegal Regency KKN team includes the non-food category, namely the use of plastic waste as a mixture of paving block raw materials and the introduction of Tegal batik through reusable media bags. For the food category, Tegal Regency KKN team produced DIMMIS (Dimsum Si Kumis), processed dimsum from catfish which contains protein for efforts to prevent stunting in toddlers in the form of PMT processed innovations for toddlers. They also made PENTING (Puding Delicious Anti Stunting) by using Moringa leaves as an effort to treat stunting in infants in the form of additional food processing innovations for toddlers.

This activity was also enlivened by the appearance of the typical art culture of Tegal Regency to introduce local culture to all participants and invited guests. The event was also enlivened by performances from Tegal Regency KKN Team I student representatives. To add to the enthusiasm and excitement of the event, the best tenant competition was awarded with assessment criteria including design, property and creativity. (Indra)
