Rector: Undip Graduates Have Integrity and Quickly Get Jobs

Semarang – Rector of Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. inaugurated 2,848 graduates of the Undip’s 173rd Graduation Ceremony on January 29 – February 2 2024 at the Prof. Soedarto, S.H., Building Undip Tembalang campus. A total of 1,531 graduates succeeded in achieving the cum laude title or with honors. This graduation consists of Doctoral, Master, Specialist Education, Professional, Bachelor, Applied Bachelor (D4), and Diploma programs. In this period, Undip also graduated 203 Bidikmisi scholarship students, 5 international students, and 4 students with Double Degrees.

In his speech, the Rector of Diponegoro University congratulated the graduates and the graduates’ parents on their graduation and achievements. “It is an honor to successfully graduate from completing studies at Undip, one of the best universities in Indonesia with a multitude of achievements, including National Ranking 1 as the University with alumni who get jobs the fastest based on the QS Ranking for Employability 2021-2022; Ranked 2nd nationally and ranked 30th in the world SustainableUuniversity based on UI Greenmetric 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023; 2nd Best National PTNBH Ranking in 2021; Top 5 Best PTNBH 2022; Top 8 National Rank for World University Rank 2023 according to QS WUR, and has more than 20 internationally accredited study programs including ABEST, FIBAA, and ASIIN; as well as 24 study programs ranked 1 to 3 best study programs at the national level,” said Prof. Yos.

Prof. Yos also said that Undip is a large university, with nearly a quarter of a million alumni, and has produced alumni who occupy high positions in Indonesia. As alumni, each of them must maintain the glory of Undip’s alma mater. Therefore, science must be implemented with integrity. “The knowledge we have learned so far is actually a medium for our connection with the Creator. With this knowledge, our knowledge is part of worship as a charity. It must be based on integrity, which is based on honesty, truth, and justice,” stressed Prof. Yos.

“To be a successful alumni of Undip, the main thing is to be a person who is honest, fair, brave, and caring. Honest in actions and words, fair in every policy choice, brave to speak the truth according to one’s conscience and have a sense of caring for fellow human beings,” said Prof Yos.

Meanwhile, in his report, the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. stated that the Undip’s 173rd Graduation Ceremony was held for 5 days in 10 stages. In total, there were 2,848 graduates, including 61 people from the Doctoral program, 327 people from the Master program, 56 people from Specialist programs, 251 people from the Professional program, 1,938 people from undergraduate programs, 197 people from the Applied Bachelor program, and 18 people from the Diploma program.

“Hopefully, the graduates will always be successful in pursuing their careers and will always be good role models for society. We are really proud of the academic achievements obtained by the graduates,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
