Diponegoro University held a ceremony to commemorate the 115th National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) in 2023, at Widya Puraya Field on Monday (22/5). The 2023 National Awakening Day ceremony with the theme “Semangat Untuk Bangkit!” The Spirit to Rise was attended by lecturers, educational staff and students at Diponegoro University.

In written remarks by The acting Indonesian Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo), which was read by the Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. it was conveyed that one hundred and fifteen years ago, the coals of Indonesian spirit to unite as a nation began to burn. This was marked by the fusion of various regional struggle movements into one unified line with the establishment of Boedi Oetomo on May 20, 1908. Since then, Indonesian national revival that was secretly moving forward eventually realized Indonesia as a united, sovereign, just, and prosperous country.

“On May 5, 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the status of the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) or global health emergency for COVID-19 has been officially revoked. We should be grateful because the world has gone through the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Over the past 3 years, in the midst of the shortcomings, challenges and problems that we have faced together, the battle spirit of the Indonesian people have proven to remain strong in carrying out the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to restore the nation’s economy. This is a momentum to interpret the 115th National Awakening Day as an effort to build a national spirit to rise after the pandemic,” said the Rector.

Indonesia’s leadership at the world level continues with its chairmanship in the ASEAN forum in 2023 which has been effective since January 1, 2023. The spirit to rise and accelerate post-pandemic global recovery was also ignited at the regional level with the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”. With this theme, Indonesia wants to make Southeast Asia an important and relevant region for the whole world in responding to regional and global challenges, as well as strengthening ASEAN’s position as the epicenter of world economic growth.

Furthermore, in his remarks, the Rector said that Undip is a stronghold of Pancasila, instilling Pancasila values not only by words but proving it with real actions and directly instilled in the mind of the academic community.

“Undip really cares about students, for example by carrying out a healthy food distribution program routinely. This is a real action, part of the Undip’s ways or Undip’s efforts in the form of attention to understanding the needs of its students,” continued the Rector.

“Let’s take care of Undip together by making achievements, providing the best service, because work is a form of worship. Besides that, always respect, be full of love for anyone, set an example or example of good behavior, and always take care of Undip for the next generation,” he said. (LW – Public Relations)
