The NUDC UNDIP Debate Team Successfully Passed to the National Level

A series of National University Debating Championship (NUDC) activities for Region 3 Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in 2023 by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) has reached its peak.

The NUDC Closing Ceremony for Regional Level 3 Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in 2023 which was held in a hybrid manner on Monday (22/05) also determined the LLDIKTI V and LLDIKTI VI delegates who passed to the National Level NUDC stage as well as regional level winners.

Representatives of LLDIKTI V (Special Region of Yogyakarta) who made it through to the National Level NUDC stage included Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Sanata Dharma, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, and Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta.

Meanwhile, representatives of LLDIKTI VI (Central Java), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) successfully passed the National Level NUDC stage, together with Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and Universitas Pekalongan.

In addition, the NUDC Undip Debate Team won individual awards in the Best Speaker category at LLDIKTI VI Level, namely Mirwanto Paulima Adveliften Sidabutar won 1st place and Muhammad Kukuh Wahyudi Satriawan won 2nd place. Then in the Best Speaker category at Regional Level 3 Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta, Mirwanto Paulima Adveliften Sidabutar won 3rd place and Muhammad Kukuh Wahyudi Satriawan won 4th place. Meanwhile, in the Team award for the Best Speaker category at Regional Level 3 Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta, the NUDC Undip Debate Team was ranked 4th.

Representing the Leaders, Director of the Directorate of Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs Hanifa Maher Denny, S.KM., MPH., Ph.D. officially closed the 2023 Level 3 NUDC activities in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. In her remarks, Hanifa expressed her gratitude for the trust that had been given to Undip.

“We are very grateful to have been entrusted with being the host of NUDC Region 3 in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in 2023. We also apologize if there are any lack of service in the implementation of NUDC Region 3 level,” he said.

Hanifa hopes that NUDC Region 3 participants who will qualify for the national level can become national champions. “We also pray for representatives from NUDC Region 3 to become National Champions. Hopefully we can bring Indonesia to greater glory through the younger generations who participated at NUDC,” she said.

On the same occasion, the Coordinator of the Talent Event for Arts, Culture, Literacy and Sports of the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) Keri Darwindo, S.Pd., M.A. gave high appreciation to Universitas Diponegoro. “Representing the Head of the Indonesian Talent Development Center, we give our highest appreciation to Universitas Diponegoro for facilitating this activity so that it runs well and smoothly,” said Keri Darwindo.

Keri added that the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) will continue to work hand in hand in providing opportunities for students to appreciate their interests and talents in 3 main areas, namely Science and Innovation, Cultural Arts, and Sports. “We will hold no less than 18 talent events this year and NUDC is the first national student competition that we will hold from 5 to 12 June 2023 at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (Untirta), Banten,” he added.

Keri hopes that holding the NUDC competition can bring out the characteristic values of students which will later be useful in achieving academic and non-academic achievements.
