PKUM UNDIP Team Provided Stimulus for Complete “Bebas Ngarit” Feed Production Equipment for Goats and Sheep in Bae District, Kudus Regency

Complete feed is a mixture of forage/straw and ingredients that combine concentrate in specific proportions that have been adjusted to the needs of the livestock. Diponegoro University (Undip), through the Strengthening Community Leading Commodities (PKUM) program, synergizes with livestock breeders to develop a productive rural economy by making complete feed for “bebas ngarit” (mowing-free) goats and sheep.

PKUM is a university facilitation program for rural economic development. Dr. Ir. Cahya Setya Utama, S.Pt, M.Si., IPM, as the chief organizer of this activity, stated that this activity was a form of assistance for goat and sheep breeders assisted by the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip. “We provided stimulus in the form of assistance with 2 units of FFC 45 disk mills with 24PK diesel to help make complete feed and organize the production site. This complete feed formula is a combination of the results of research on campus, which has been applied in the field according to the feed ingredients available at partner locations, which is useful for increasing the productivity of goats and sheep. We hope that goat and sheep breeders will be able to handle the dry season, where food is complicated. We are ready to accompany the success of goat and sheep breeders in the Bae District area in particular and Kudus Regency in general,” said Cahya in his statement to the Undip Public Relations team on Sunday (19/11/2023).

Meanwhile, Mr. Ari, whose full name is Richke Ariyanto, as the representative of the breeders assisted by the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, FPP Undip, expressed his gratitude and welcomed this program. He hopes that FPP Undip will always accompany and provide up-to-date information about feed technology for goats and sheep so that progress can be made. Goat and sheep farming in Kudus Regency can be realized. The hope is that the interaction between breeders and universities can increase the knowledge and income of the community, especially goat and sheep breeders.
