UNDIP Rector Inaugurates Muladi Dome, the Largest Multipurpose Building in Central Java

UNDIP built a magnificent facility known as the Multipurpose Building named Muladi Dome. This name is taken from the name of Prof. Muladi, former Rector of Diponegoro University and former Minister of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia. The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday afternoon (5/4/2024). It was attended by the Rector of Diponegoro University, Vice Rector, Chair of the Academic Senate, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Deans, and the family of the late Prof. Muladi.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., explained why the new Multipurpose Building at UNDIP is named Muladi Dome. “This building is named Muladi Dome because he initiated the elevation of UNDIP’s name so that it could enter the national and international ranks. So we give this name as a tribute to the services he provided,” explained Prof. Yos.

Prof. Yos also explained the design philosophy behind Muladi Dome. “When we were children, we were surely delighted when our parents brought home a besek (traditional woven basket) or a berkat (traditional offering). These items brought happiness. May Muladi Dome always bring blessings and happiness to those who use it,” said Prof. Yos.

Meanwhile, the wife of the late Prof. Muladi expressed her gratitude for Diponegoro University’s appreciation for her husband. “I congratulate UNDIP on the completion of the construction of this Multipurpose Building. I also express my thanks to the Rector of Diponegoro University for giving extraordinary honor by naming this Multipurpose Building after my husband, Prof. Muladi,” said Prof. Muladi’s wife.

Muladi Dome was built within a construction period of 450 calendar days, starting from December 29, 2022, until March 22, 2024. Muladi Dome is a 3-story building with a grandstand equipped with parking areas in the front and basement. The basement area also includes 2 prayer rooms, each with a capacity of 150 people. The 1st floor of Muladi Dome features several seminar rooms, co-working spaces, and dozens of tenants and a food court. The 2nd floor of Muladi Dome is a ballroom equipped with 2 movable partitions, allowing the ballroom to be divided into 3 rooms, each with a capacity of 1500 people. With a size of 90×60 square meters and a total capacity of 4500 people plus 700 people in the grandstand, Muladi Dome’s ballroom has become the largest in Central Java.

With the inauguration of this iconic, multifunctional, representative, largest, and most magnificent Multipurpose Building in Central Java, it is hoped that UNDIP can continue to prosper the academic community within it and the surrounding society. (Hng-Public Relations)
