Rizqa Tri Wulandari (Head of Diponegoro Board of Scouts UNDIP Group 11.046): Scouts Continue to Create and Innovate in Advancing the Country

“Scouts play an important role in character education in Indonesia outside of teaching and learning activities. Without us knowing it, everyone must have joined Scouts, even if only when in elementary school. Some of the knowledge learned during Scouting activities must be inherent until we grow up, especially lessons about social life. The Scout Organization also has a code of honor in the form of Scout Law and Scout Promises which, if practiced, can create a generation with an ideal behavior. While the concrete form of the importance of Scouts in life is that Scouts Organization often engage directly in people’s lives such as helping to regulate traffic, planting trees, carrying out health socialization and community service, even during the current pandemic Scouts form ‘Care Scouts’ who serve as Covid-19 Volunteers,” conveyed by Rizqa Tri Wulandari, Head of Board of Scouts – Diponegoro University Group 11,046.

“I have joined Scouts organization since high school and felt this organization is the right place for me to develop myself. When I entered high school, I was alone and had no friends from my junior high school. Then I joined Scouts organization, became a crew, and won several regional level competitions and participated in national level activities. From here I realized that I could grow and have a lot of relations both inside and outside of school. From here I want to continue to join Racana Diponegoro, moreover Racana Diponegoro is one of the 4 core Student Activity Unit at university level, of course the relations is wider and the activities are more varied,” she said.

Rizqa conveyed that during this pandemic, Undip Scouts activities are focused on developing soft skills and scouting skills for Diponegoro Scouts Members. Organizing activities based on value added or adding value to members, such as ‘Radip Work Class’ (classes to prepare for the world of work), ‘Ningrum’ (Learning Forum, sharing activities to improve members’ soft skills, especially in the fields of communication and public speaking), ‘Survival Webinar’ (Webinar with material on scouting knowledge and ways to survive in the wild and natural disasters).

“Besides that, because crews and members cannot meet in person, we also hold casual activities with the aim of having fun and bonding members, for example, ‘Areng Aring’ (relaxing sharing between members), ‘One Hour Closer’ (Live Instagram with speakers from external spokespersons of Undip). In addition, our routine activities also continue, such as regeneration activities, ‘Dipovibes’ (Central Java Rover and Ranger Scouts Contest), birthday celebrations, reflections on Scouting holidays, Senior Rover and Ranger Scouts Deliberations, and training on member talent interests,” continued student of Accounting at Faculty of Economics and Business Undip.

“My hope on this 60th Scout Day is that the pandemic will end soon so that Scouting activities in Indonesia can be carried out in the field again, and I believe that Scouts can definitely adapt, maximize the use of technology, continue to be creative, and innovate to advance the country. Glory for Indonesian Scouts!” she hoped.

Rizqa revealed that education and organization were very important. In formal education, students learn something in theory, then learn to practice the theory through organizations. During college, she has been actively playing roles in groups and communities outside the campus. From that experience, she came to know that it will be very different for people who join organization and those who do not. People who join organization will tend to respect the opinions of friends, discuss in deciding something, adapt easily (not leaning towards one group), and have a leadership spirit. She said that when we have time, we should be able to explore our abilities, one of them is by joining organization.

“In this digital era, with the ease of sending news and commenting on something, we can unknowingly hurt and even provoke others. Therefore, as students who get more education, we must set a good example to others wisely and control our thumbs when commenting on social media. In addition, while we are still given time and health, we must really use it to learn more and to explore our potential, so that there will be no regrets left when we grow older,” Rizqa said.
