Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business UNDIP Introduced Bloomberg Financial Laboratory to New Students of Class of 2021

SEMARANG – The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo S.E, M.Si, welcomed new students for the Academic Year of 2021/2022 in a smooth and contemporary way. With the language and style of the millennial, Suharnomo welcomed the freshmen and explained the positioning of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip in the national and international levels.

In addition, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip also introduced several facilities available to support the teaching and learning process, including Bloomberg Terminals and Finance Lab. These facilities are the results of Bloomberg’s first collaboration with universities in Indonesia. “There are 800 universities in the world that are collaborating with Bloomberg. We are the first university in Indonesia to have a Bloomberg Financial Lab,” said Suharnomo, on Monday (16/8/2021).

It was revealed that Bloomberg Finance Lab of Faculty of Economics and Business Undip has 12 terminals that can be used by undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, teaching staffs and researchers at Undip. This facility has very high quality data and it is believed that it will improve the professional ability of the academic community who use it. “Initially, to get Bloomberg data, you had to go to Singapore, now Faculty of Economics and Business Undip has provided it,” he added.

Another thing to note is that Bloomberg Terminal is a software platform that provides real-time and historical data, news, and financial market analysis that can assist the analysis and assessment of academics, business experts and finance professionals. The data and information provided are also important in making the right investment decisions.

The interesting thing is, said Suharnomo, on Friday (13/8/2021), this facility also provides execution platforms for each asset class, research, and global network in order to communicate securely and reliably. Those who are seeking a career in financial research can access Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), a certified e-learning course, as well as CFAPRO, a database that maps the CFA Institute Candidate Body of Knowledge to more than 387 relevant Bloomberg Terminal functions.

Since 1999, Bloomberg has worked with Indonesian banks, national companies and government agencies to advance Indonesia’s financial market infrastructure and increase transparency and efficiency through analysis of data, news. In 2016, Bloomberg foreign exchange trading platform was integrated into Bank Indonesia’s real-time trade monitoring system, SISMONTAVAR, for seamless transactions and post-trade reporting.

In 2017, Bloomberg launched a reverse repo analysis and trading platform to deepen Indonesia’s financial markets. Starting on June 1st 2018, debt denominated in Indonesian Rupiah was included in Bloomberg Global Aggregate Index for the first time, so that more complete data could be studied.

At that moment, in addition to introducing the facilities provided by Faculty of Economics and Business Undip, rankings based on the latest THE Ranking were also presented. Based on the latest THE World University Ranking (WUR), Faculty of Economics and Business Undip is in the 3rd best ranking in Indonesia. “So do not hesitate to proceed with us to become future leaders,” he said.
