Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. led the Heroes’ Day commemoration ceremony which was attended by lecturers, education staff and student representatives at Diponegoro University. The ceremony was held at Widya Puraya Undip field, Tembalang, Thursday (10/11).

At the ceremony, the Rector read out the message from the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on this Heroes’ Day commemoration. Every year we commemorate Heroes’ Day with earnest reflections to rediscover the traces of the Heroes in our lives as an Independent Nation and State.

“Together we remember and respect the struggle of the Heroes. Together we build the nation’s collective memory so that we can implement the spirit and noble values of Heroes. Together we strengthen the unity of the nation in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, which is the Mandate of the Nation’s Heroes. Come on, let’s eradicate ignorance, fight poverty, and create a just and prosperous society. Together we fight radicalism, we grow and develop the spirit of mutual cooperation to welcome a bright future. Heroes will be role models for us to navigate challenging times. An example for us to organize the future and become winners. Happy Heroes’ Day 2022,” he said.

Prof. Yos also added that as a form of gratitude and a spirit of patriotism is to work hard, individuals should be more enthusiastic as well as increase research and the number of publications.

“Work hard and smart to realize noble ideals. Let’s strengthen patriotism with our form of happiness by seeing other people happy, making each other happy and showing compassion for each other,” he said.

In line with the theme of the 2022 Heroes’ Day commemoration, “My Heroes are My Example”, the Undip Rector advised to emulate the souls and struggles of the Heroes. Moreover, Undip carries the great name of the hero Prince Diponegoro. For that we must be able to implement it in action and real work with the values of Diponegoro’s struggle, namely honesty, fairness, courage and care. (Lin/Ut – Public Relations)
