In order to encourage an increase in student achievement, academic ability, insight and love of students for the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) as well as improving the quality of tertiary institutions, the Ministry of Education and Culture’s National Achievement Center (Puspresnas Kemendikbud) organizes various facilitation activities, one of which is ON-MIPA ( National Olympiad in Mathematics and Natural Sciences). The 2023 ON-MIPA selection will be held online at the regional level and offline at the national level. University Level ON-MIPA within Diponegoro University (Undip) was held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Undip Tembalang, Semarang.
ON-MIPA is expected to be able to score student achievements and become input for improving the quality of higher education, especially in the field of MIPA. In addition, this competition is a means of promotion in order to increase the attractiveness of fields of study or subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the community.
The 2023 ON-MIPA Selection at University Level in Undip was attended by the Head of Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, Academic Director of Student and Alumni Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, and Undip leaders.
The event began with an opening in the main hall of the FSM Old Dean Building, then continued with the selection process for four fields, namely Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics which took place in the same building on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
The participants for the ON-MIPA selection at the Undip level are all active Diponegoro University students in the S1 or Diploma program in science or relevant fields.
“The number of participants who took part in the selection was 207 participants who would be screened by 20 participants, with 5 participants in each field. Later they will compete in the 2023 ON-MIPA Regional Level Selection which is planned to be held online from 22-25 May 2023. Announcement of the 2023 Undip ON-MIPA Selection will be made at the end of March 2023,” said Nurdin Bahtiar, S.Si., M.T. as the PIC of the Undip ON-MIPA selection.
