Training on Medical 1 Radiation Protection Officer at Smart Solution FSM UNDIP

Medical Radiation Protection Officer (PPR) are very necessary and required by the Nuclear Energy Monitoring Agency (BAPETEN) in work installations related to the use of nuclear energy. There are medical and industrial PPR training, including PPR medical 1, PPR medical 2, and PPR medical 3. Likewise, industrial PPR exists from Industry 1 to industry 3.

Medical PPR 1 training at Undip was held from 15 to 26 May 2023 at the Smart Solution Business Unit, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Undip. The number of participants was 23 people, consisting of hospitals, importing companies and testing and calibration companies.

The medical PPR 1 training is for the scope of radiotherapy and nuclear medicine installations. The participants are Medical Physicists, Radiographers, Electro-medical, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

Materials provided include safety culture, organizational management systems, basic radiation physics, basic radiation protection, radiation measuring instruments, biological effects of radiation, occupational exposure protection, medical exposure protection, nuclear legislation, transportation of radioactive substances, safety of radioactive sources, radioactive waste management and related practicum.

The work permit test (sib) for certain PPR officers by BAPETEN was held on May 26, 2023. We hope that the materials obtained will be useful and pass the trust of BAPETEN to obtain a work permit for certain officers, namely SIB Medical PPR 1.

The closing of the training was carried out by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics (FSM), Prof. Widowati with a message to keep learning and working well as Medical PPR 1 later.

Zaenal Arifin S.Si., F.Med., M.Si., Manager of Smart Solution FSM Undip added, “Alhamdulillah, batch 1 has been completed and medical PPR 1 training batch 2 will be held at FSM Undip on  June 5-16, 2023. Hopefully there will be more medical radiation protection officers, especially from Physics Undip alumni as well.
