Diponegoro University (Undip) held an audience with the Batang Regency Government on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, Undip, Semarang. From Undip, this audience was attended by Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Human Resources Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., Head of BPP Undip, Chair of LPPSDKU, and Secretary of LPPSDKU. The Batang Regency Government Team was represented by the acting Regent of Batang, Dra. Lani Dwi Rejeki, M.M., Pj. Sekja Batang, Head of BPKPAD Batang, Plt. Head of the Batang Education and Culture Office, Head of the Manpower Office, and the team. The audience between the Batang Regency Government and Undip discussed the development of PSDKU, especially the PSDKU Undip campus in Tumbrep Village, Batang Regency.
Referring to the recommendation of the Directorate General of Vocational Education (Ditjen Vocational) Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) to upgrade Diploma 3 (D3) to Applied Bachelor (D4), Undip together with the Batang Regency Government discussed the development of PSDKU Undip Batang. Later, the D3 program will gradually be replaced by an Applied Bachelor (D4) program, complemented by competency strengthening and certification.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. stated that the study program quota in PSDKU saw the local community’s interest. “The PSDKU campus is still running in Batang, Rembang, and Pekalongan. We work with institutions and industry,” said Prof Yos.
Dra. Lani Dwi Rejeki, M.M., Acting The Regent of Batang, said that her concerns had been answered through this audience regarding the PSDKU campus, which had started accepting prospective D4 program students. “There is the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate which is currently developing and requires a lot of human resources. Of course, we have to prepare it early. As the Batang Regency Government, we hope that PSDKU Undip Batang can answer the challenges of HR needs in the industry. We will study the pattern of cooperation together,” said Dra. Lani.
Undip as the 1st ranked university in Indonesia in the 2022 Graduate Employability Rankings category by QS WUR, with students getting jobs the fastest after graduation, responds to global challenges to synergize with DUDI (Business World and Industrial World). Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. explained PSDKU Undip is under the direction of the Directorate General of Vocational Studies and is seeking accreditation for the D4 program, which includes new study programs.
Vice Rector for Human Resources Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T. added that Undip is trying to carry out its responsibility to participate in developing Batang Regency. The study program at PSDKU Undip can provide graduates who are ready to work in Batang Regency and can hold the Batang community so that they can play a role.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Purwanto, DEA, Head of the Undip Planning and Development Agency, said there was a master plan for developing the D4 study program and a combination of the Bachelor and Master study programs. “The main goal is to participate in developing the Batang Integrated Industrial Area,” he said.
